Rising Stars: Meet Tina Bousu of Loveland

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tina Bousu.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have always had a creative side, but when we bought our first house I was able to really lean into it. Experimenting with DIY, design and color revealed a passion for creating beautiful spaces. And not only creating them but sharing how others can do things in their homes too. I honed my style and dove into posting on social media which catapulted my business into working with clients across the US through online design work, brands for marketing styling and connecting with a like minded audience who shared my love of color and whimsy. I share DIY projects on my website with step by step tutorials, as well as shopping resources and vintage finds. Its about inspiring and helping folks to create spaces that are an experience.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been all roses, the passion for the work is there as is the ambition and joy. It took me a few years to find the audience on social media as my style wasn’t very mainstream back then. Once I found them it was like reaching the light at the end of the tunnel. And now we’re in a highly competitive social media world where algorithms rule vs actual people and ads overrule original content. So its been a frustrating experience watching the shift from beauty in the simple things like photos and authentic comments to bots and non-stop video. Economically its rough out there and folks just aren’t looking to do home projects, DIY or otherwise, as much as they used to. (rightly so) Regardless this is what I’m meant to do and will keep chugging along.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m known for interior design and consistently break the rules. My brand is “Eclectic Twist” and it fits me to a T. I love incorporating pieces from several different genres, sprinkling in some weirdness and creating a one of a kind personality driven space. Curation, color, and some of the unexpected are guaranteed in every room. I’m also a big proponent of DIY and encourage anyone willing to give small (or big) projects a try! I’m most proud of starting as a SAHM with 4 little ones and building a small business. For showing my sons and daughter that hard work and perseverance is always worth it. And I’m so proud and grateful to have the opportunity to work with clients from around the country bringing their dream spaces to life.
