Hi TJ, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

My life journey is deeply rooted in my passion for music. It all began when I first took piano lessons at just 6 years old. Initially I was pretty reluctant, but my mother (who is a wonderful pianist herself) was adamant that I at least give it a shot. After just a few lessons, I knew that music wasn’t just a hobby for me – it was my calling. Thanks mom! Throughout high school, I played in several bands including Mid Day Sky and The Glass Atlantic which grew my skills and further fueled my love for performing. As I got older and continued to pursue my passion, opportunities began to present themselves. Opening for renowned acts such as MXPX, Vanilla Ice, and Naughty By Nature was not just a dream come true but a testament to my dedication and desire to improve. These experiences only fueled my ambition even further, igniting a desire to carve out my own path in the industry one way or another.

Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, I didn’t limit myself to just music. Alongside pursuing my musical endeavors with my current band, Theoretic, I ventured into the world of business. Our nonprofit Wealth In Community Knowledge (The WICK) is a testament to my creative vision. Our Airbnb retreat called Plant Lovers Paradise where guests can immerse themselves in nature while enjoying the comforts of modern living, represents my passion for hospitality. Additionally, my venture into IDAX Data Solutions showcases my adaptability and knack for innovation.

Throughout the years, music has remained my constant companion and driving force in life. It’s not just about the writing or performances; it’s about channeling my passion into everything I do. Whether it’s creating music with friends or building businesses that provide a meaningful impact. Today, I stand at the intersection of music and entrepreneurship, driven by a pursuit of excellence and a commitment to push myself to be the best person I can be. And while the road hasn’t always been easy, every twist and turn has only strengthened my resolve to continue following my passion wherever it may lead.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

While my journey has been incredibly fulfilling, it certainly hasn’t been without its challenges. Like any path worth traveling, mine has been marked by ups and downs that have tested my tenacity, resilience, and shaped my character. One of the biggest struggles I faced early on (and still do) is balancing my passion for music with the demands of everyday life. Juggling school, work, side hustles, rehearsals, and everything in between requires a great deal of discipline and sacrifice. There have been moments when it all feels overwhelming, but dedication to my craft and enjoying every moment keeps me pushing forward.

As I transitioned into the world of entrepreneurship, I encountered a whole new set of challenges. Building and managing multiple businesses simultaneously demanded a level of multitasking and resourcefulness that I had never experienced before. From navigating the complexities of business operations to overcoming inevitable setbacks, each day presented new obstacles to overcome. Financial hurdles also presented significant challenges along the way. Funding my musical pursuits and entrepreneurial ventures required careful budgeting and creative problem-solving. At times, it felt like progress was slow, and success was uncertain. However, I refused to let financial constraints dampen my passion or deter me from pursuing my dreams. Sometimes you just have to eat potatoes for a month to make it all work.

Perhaps one of the most significant struggles I faced was self-doubt. In an industry as competitive as music, it’s easy to question your abilities and compare yourself to others. There were moments when I wondered if I had what it takes to succeed or if I was simply chasing an impossible dream. But with the support of loved ones and a belief in myself, I learned to silence the doubts and just push forward with confidence. Despite these challenges, every setback served as a valuable lesson, fueling my determination to keep moving forward. Through perseverance, resilience, and commitment to my passions, I’ve overcome obstacles that once seemed insurmountable. While the road may not have always been smooth, each turn has only strengthened my resolve to continue chasing my dreams with drive and determination.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?

I’m deeply passionate about both music and entrepreneurship, and my work reflects this intersection of creativity and business ability. As a musician, I specialize in crafting dynamic and experimental experiences with my band, Theoretic. Our music blends elements of rock, blues, indie, and most recently, a touch of hip-hop. We’re known for our energetic live performances and non-formulaic approach to writing songs.

In addition to my musical endeavors, I’m also very proud to be an entrepreneur. Through ventures like The WICK, our Airbnb retreat, and IDAX Data Solutions, I have captured an ability to innovate and create value in different industries. What might set me apart from others is my ability to bridge the gap between art and commerce. Whether I’m composing a new song or developing a business strategy, I approach each endeavor with a creative mindset and a keen eye for opportunity. But perhaps what I’m most proud of is my commitment to authenticity and integrity in everything I do. Whether it’s trying to create music that speaks to the heart or building businesses that provide a positive impact, I always strive to stay true to myself and my values. In a world where conformity often reigns supreme, I’m proud to try and stand out as an innovative force, attempting to push the boundaries of what’s possible and hopefully inspiring others to do the same.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?

One surprising aspect about me that many people may not know is my interest in science and astronomy. While I’m primarily known for my work in music, my fascination with the cosmos and desire to understand how things work has always been a part of who I am. From looking up at the stars to delving into the mysteries of the world, I find joy and inspiration in exploring the wonders of the things that transcend us. Whether it’s stargazing on clear nights at our mountain land or going down a rabbit hole on the latest discoveries, science serves as a constant source of wonder in my life. Not to mention one of the subjects that bonds me to my older brother Nick, who I look up to a great deal.

While it may seem unrelated to my music and business endeavors on the surface, my fascination with science actually fuels my creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in unexpected ways. It reminds me of the infinite possibilities that exist in the universe and encourages me to think outside the box and pursue my passions with curiosity and enthusiasm. So, while I may be known for my music and business ventures, my love for science is a hidden passion that adds depth and richness to my life and work.
