Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Watson.
Wendy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2009, only a year after I bought my first house, I was “restructured” from my corporate job. I was in a middle position that no one was hiring for during the recession so I couldn’t find a job. I was collecting unemployment, working side jobs for cash, and my husband-at-the-time had a steady job. I took some time to figure out what I really wanted to do next and I made a list of all the criteria I wanted my new career to have. I knew I couldn’t afford a 4-year degree so I looked at the vocational options and massage therapy checked off all the boxes. I went and visited the school on a Friday, everything just “felt right”, class started on Monday or I’d have to wait another month, so I signed up that day and started class on Monday. I graduated in 2011 and started working for franchises to get my foot in the door, learn the industry, and build my resume. A couple years later, I was building my own massage business and in 4 years I had a steady, viable business that held it’s own. In 2018, I started my 2nd business – an investment firm focusing on rental property. I downsized and bought a condo and rented out my house. In 2019, I sold that rental property for a good profit. I then bought another rental property – an RV – in 2021 which did well in Arizona. In 2022, I was called to “do more, be more” and Phoenix was no longer the right place for me. So I closed my massage business, moved my rental property up to Colorado Springs, sold my house, put my dog down, went on vacation for a month and then moved to a state I’d never been to, didn’t really know anyone, and started all over again not knowing what I was going to do – single with no partner for additional support. I took a few months to settle in (June to December). Then I started networking and meeting people. That’s when I met Beatrice Bruno, the Drill Sergeant of Life. She got me authoring my first book: Verbal Turbulence: The 70/20/10 Rule and introduced me to Achieve Systems. They helped me walk through the process of building a business from the ground floor. Now, when I built my massage business in Phoenix, I didn’t have to network, market, brand, or learn sales skills – which I needed now. I had no idea what a CRM was or how to build high-ticket sales programs or any of that stuff. Through the connections I made within Achieve Systems, I learned and developed all of these skills and built TBR Spiritual Health. I launched my book in August of 2023 and then became an Alpha Leader in Achieve where I scaled my skills even more and scaled my connections in business. I started making my first sales in November of 2023 and continued to grow and scale throughout 2024. In 2024, I started professionally speaking at conferences and hosting my own workshops and summits. I decided to become the CO Regional Director of Lead and Empower Her She Talks and host my first conference here in Denver in partnership with them. In April 2025, I hosted the Sass, Cash, and Class Conference at the Comedy Works in DTC and it was a HUGE success! So successful, I’m already organizing my 2nd conference for April 2026 with Lead and Empower Her She Talks featuring Deb Drummond. The best part … this one will be international! Since I started building TBR Spiritual Health just 2-1/2 years ago, I’ve: 1) authored my first book, 2) contributed to a 2nd book called Finding Your Inner Beauty, 3) was an Alpha Leader in Achieve Systems, 4) became the CO Regional Director for Lead and Empower Her She Talks, 5) became a professional, international speaker, 6) a conference hostess, 7) have been a guest on over 50 podcasts, 8) host my own podcast, and 9) scaled my services. This year I’m launching my corporate training workshops, launching my own anthology called Listen for the Love, contributing to the 262 Project Anthology, organizing my 2026 conference, and the rest is yet to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were so many challenges. I had to learn how to network, sales skills, marketing, branding, what the heck a CRM was and how to use it, follow up skills, social media skills, how to author and publish a book, professional speaking skills, how to build coaching programs and what they even looked like – what did I want to teach people. This is a business that was built from scratch through pure intuition and guidance. There is no blueprint for it like there is with a restaurant or bar. I’m in a new state where I really didn’t know anyone. It’s harder to make friends in my 40’s, especially when I’m spending all my time building a business from scratch. I had left my community in Phoenix. There was loneliness, uncertainty, faith. I came up here with lots of money and now I’m working a 2nd job just to make ends meet. The financial ebbs and flows of an early business are hard and this time I don’t have a spouse or a 2nd income to rely or fall back on. Literally, everything is on me. The weight of that at times can be very heavy. Then there’s times where I hear my thought saying “I can’t do that.” and I have to correct and say “Yes, I can. I can do anything I want. I just haven’t done it before.” Imposter syndrome can definitely kick in sometimes and I have to get myself out of it as quickly as possible so it doesn’t destroy what I’m building or my confidence.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I see everything in terms of “relationships”. Everything is a relationship to me and everything is in relationship to each other. I believe the best way to be our true selves is to be in relationship with all the individual components that makes us a whole person: our relationship with our mind and our brain, our heart and each of our emotions, our bat wings and chicken legs, our nutrition, exercise, money, organs, beliefs and principles. This is what gives us our autonomy and best of all shows us how to truly love ourselves. When we can do that and see ourselves that way, it changes our whole perspective(s) on others and it changes our relationships with others. I guide people on how to truly love every piece of themselves, establish their autonomy by breaking conditioning, barriers, and expectations, and align everything they do with their beliefs, principles, ethics and values. There’s a lot of leadership coaches, habit coaches, mindset coaches – which are all great and very necessary. What sets me apart is that I work with all of those things combined with spiritual components like beliefs and principles, energy, God and spirit guides and wrap it all up in a bow. I believe the #3 is the most powerful number. No matter what theology or ideology you believe in, most of them talk about the power of 3. The strongest and most powerful shape is the triangle – look at sacred geometry and the pyramids all around the earth. When you only address mindset and emotions, you’re still missing something. Which is what most people feel even after working with someone for 6 months. By bringing in the 3rd and most vital component – Spirituality – you complete the triangle, you bring in the power of 3 and the power of the triangle, and you start aligning with the most important aspect of human existence – our values and belief systems. 79% of successful people contribute their success to their beliefs.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I was 6 years old, at a park with my mom and sister, playing in a sandbox with my toy Bigfoot Tonka Truck all by myself. I didn’t want to play with my sister – she was doing something else and we see each other all the time. My mom was sitting on the side doing her thing and watching us play. When another little girl my age, came over and asked if she could play with me. We played for hours until it was time to go home. It’s my favorite memory because I was usually the instigator and had to go find people to play with. This was one of the first times someone came up to me and wanted to play with me without being asked and we had a blast together. Also, most 6-year-old girls didn’t like playing with trucks or what’s considered “boy” toys so that added some sugar to it all.
