Rising Stars: Meet Young Kings Kollective of Denver (Hampden/Cherry Creek)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Young Kings Kollective.

Hi Young Kings, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Based out of New Orleans, Louisiana, YKK was started in 2021 and officially became stamped as a business in December of 2022 after moving out west to Denver, Colorado. As a group, YKK has a wide variety of range, making anything from alternative rock to R&B, but mostly sticks to it’s roots in rap. We enjoy skating, gaming, hooping, bowling, golfing, fishing and other activities around the city that make us feel at home. We also enjoy the art scene and beautiful landscapes Denver has to offer, some of which we will be using to help us promote our new merch. As always, the Young Kings Kollective has been working diligently to create another classic kollection of songs for their upcoming album, already having worked with the likes of Curren$y, Mozzy, Young Deji and others. Going forward YKK plans to continue to deliver great music, stunning visuals, and build a bigger, better community for the people that want to live like us.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Though we make it look nice, it hasn’t always been easy treading. Over the course of our existence we have spent tens of thousands on our brand, and ultimately have had our share of bad investments; mostly in terms of the people we invested time and resources into who in turn didn’t pay off. It was also difficult moving to a brand new city with very little connections here, but that only forced us to network and get out more, which was needed after COVID-19. The shutdown prevented us from touring and a few of our shows such as one at SXSW were cancelled which with the loss of our now old computer really set us back before we were able to get YKK up and rolling.
So yes, YKK as well as it’s members have all felt their share of hardships but pushing through those times is what has made and will continue to make us greater.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We have artists, producers, engineers, camera specialists, video editors, graphic designers, and more on our team that are always looking for opportunities to work.

We offer studio sessions for $25/hr with a full mix included.

Our services are top of the line after our recent upgrades, and we have recorded multiple artists throughout the city who loved working with us and continue to come back!

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Life is all about taking risks, otherwise you choose to settle. We have taken major risk after major risk. From spending thousands to travel for videos to quitting jobs and moving cities with no promises that things will work out, we have put our lives on the line for our dreams and believe that is the only way to achieve them.
