Rising Stars: Meet Zoe Rogers of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Rogers.

Zoe, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started doing Comedy 15 years ago and teach stand-up and produce comedy shows and festivals like Boulder comedy festival and Fempire comedy festival. I really believe in helping people connect with audiences through shared experiences and vulnerability. Boulder comedy festival focuses on women and diversity in comedy and so does Fempire Comedy Festival. Come laugh with comics from across the country at Fempire Comedy Festival October 23-25th in Boulder at Junkyard Social Club, Dairy Arts and Louisville Underground!
Tickets are available at www.comedyfempire.com

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road, but it has been a road full of generous people and opportunities. I am extremely fortunate to have had comics who gave me opportunities and brought me on the road with them and allowed me to feature for them so I could learn from them. There are always going to be people who push back against new ideas, and it is important to focus on those that support you and offer insight and growth.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love teaching because I love helping people find the funny in their everyday life and connect with audiences through shared experiences. I love producing because I love creating a lineup with diverse voices where the audience gets a chance to connect with people that they typically might not know they share so much in common with. I am very proud of the comics that come out of my class, the shows I produce and the feel that they give the audiences, but I am most proud of my family who is very patient and supportive.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I really like all the nature around Boulder. You can see beautiful sunrises, and sunsets, hike around incredible scenery, and also get a delicious taco. The way that the outdoor life is woven into the every day here is very inspiring.
