We recently had the chance to connect with Alaizja Diaz & Cristian Diaz and have shared our conversation below.
Alaizja & Cristian, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
A lot of people see desserts as “just sweets,” but what we create at Evee’s Sweet Tooth is so much more than that. Every cheesecake shooter, dipped berry, or party package is crafted with purpose, whether it’s to bring joy to a celebration, comfort during a rough week, or a sense of nostalgia through familiar flavors. People often underestimate the time, creativity, and care that goes into handmade, small-batch desserts. This isn’t fast food, it’s edible artistry. There’s heart in every step, from sourcing quality ingredients to designing beautiful packaging. We’re not just selling sweets, we’re delivering a full experience that leaves a lasting impression.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Evee’s Sweet Tooth began as more than just a business—it was a faith move. In 2023, we felt called to step away from our corporate jobs and create a life rooted in purpose, family, and presence. With nothing but a mini pancake griddle, mason jars, and big faith, we took the first step.
What started as small batches shared with loved ones quickly blossomed into a home-based dessert brand fueled by creativity and love. The support we received reminded us that when you move with intention and trust God’s timing – beautiful things follow.
Today, we specialize in handcrafted cheesecake shooters, chocolate-covered strawberries, and curated dessert packages made to celebrate life’s sweetest moments. Every part of this journey, from our recipes to our branding, has been built from the ground up. Our daughter, Evaleena (Evee), inspired the name, and our mission is to create joy while honoring the calling we felt from the beginning.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how we see the world was becoming parents. Before that, we were constantly in hustle mode working, climbing, surviving. But once we had our kids, everything shifted. We saw life through a different lens, one that prioritized presence over pressure, purpose over paychecks.
Parenthood taught us a deeper kind of strength, patience, and love. It showed us how important it is to build something lasting, something that reflects our values and puts family at the center. That’s what led us build our business from the ground up.
It also deepened our faith. We realized we can’t control everything, but we can trust God with the vision He’s given us. That trust has carried us through every challenge, and it continues to shape how we show up for each other, our kids, and our community.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught us humility, resilience, and how to move with purpose. Things that success alone could never offer. When you’re struggling, you learn how to stretch what little you have, how to keep going when no one’s clapping, and how to depend on God more than your own strength.
We’ve been in places where we felt overlooked, broke, and worn down but those seasons built our character. They reminded us that value isn’t tied to visibility or money. Suffering stripped away ego and distractions and forced us to ask: What really matters? For us, the answer was always faith, family, and doing work that feels meaningful.
Success is beautiful, but it’s the pain and pressure that shaped who we are. Without the struggle, we wouldn’t appreciate the wins the same way or have the compassion and depth we carry now.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
In business, we think a lot of smart people are getting it wrong by chasing scale before building real connection. There’s so much emphasis on going viral, automating everything, or hitting big numbers fast but that can come at the cost of quality, purpose, and long-term trust.
We’ve seen firsthand that slow growth rooted in authenticity creates loyal customers and meaningful impact. People remember how you made them feel, not how many followers you had. We’ve turned small, intentional moments—like handwritten notes or thoughtful packaging, into lasting impressions.
Smart strategies matter, but if your heart’s not in it, people can feel that. We believe building something special takes time, care, and staying aligned with your “why” not just chasing what looks good on paper.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes. We’ve given our best when no one clapped, shared, or noticed because we believe excellence isn’t about recognition, it’s about integrity. We pour love into every detail, not for praise, but because it reflects who we are and Who we do it for. That’s enough.
