We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alicia Ramos. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Alicia , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misunderstandings about the aesthetics business is that it’s simply “beauty treatments” or vanity services. In reality, medical aesthetics is a highly skilled field that blends science, artistry, and patient care. Practitioners aren’t just making people look good—they’re addressing skin health, confidence, and often complex conditions like acne scarring, pigmentation, or aging concerns that can deeply affect self-esteem. What’s often overlooked is the extensive training, compliance with strict medical regulations, and the investment in advanced technologies required to operate ethically and safely. Behind every treatment are protocols, consultations, and safety measures designed to protect patients, not just enhance appearances. It’s far less about superficial beauty and much more about restoring confidence, delivering medical-grade results, and supporting long-term skin health.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alicia Ramos, and I’m a medical aesthetician and the owner of Smoothe Denver, a boutique aesthetics practice in Colorado. What makes my work unique is that I combine advanced medical-grade treatments with a personalized, compassionate approach—I don’t just focus on appearances, I focus on helping people feel truly confident in their own skin. Smoothe Denver is built around the idea that results should be both safe and transformative, whether that means clearing stubborn skin concerns, softening the signs of aging, or simply creating a space where clients feel cared for. I’ve always believed aesthetics isn’t just about beauty—it’s about confidence, wellness, and creating lasting change that radiates from the inside out.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Growing up, I watched my dad and other family members run their own businesses, and that experience shaped the way I see the world—from the value of hard work to the importance of integrity. Those lessons are at the heart of everything I do. At Smoothe Denver, I’ve built more than a practice—I’ve built a space where people feel cared for, where advanced medical-grade treatments meet compassion and authenticity. What makes my work unique is that it’s not just about enhancing appearances; it’s about restoring confidence, honoring individuality, and delivering results with honesty and excellence.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
In 2015, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and it became a pivotal moment in my life. Facing that challenge gave me a deeper perspective on health, resilience, and what it means to truly care for yourself. It taught me the importance of balance, of listening to your body, and of approaching both life and work with gratitude and integrity. That experience continues to shape how I move through the world and how I care for others.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
There are quite a few myths and half-truths floating around in the aesthetics industry—many of them driven by marketing hype or social media trends. Here are some of the biggest lies that often mislead clients:
1. One treatment fixes everything – Real results take time and consistency.
2. All providers are equal – Training, skill, and integrity matter.
3. Treatments are risk-free – Every procedure has potential side effects.
4. Stronger is better – Overly aggressive treatments can do more harm than good.
5. Trends = results – Not every viral hack or fad is backed by science.
6. You should look done – The best outcomes are subtle, natural, and confidence-boosting.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
I’ve always felt that I was born to serve people, and aesthetics has become the perfect vehicle for that calling. It allows me to combine compassion with skill—helping others feel more confident, cared for, and comfortable in their own skin.
