Story & Lesson Highlights with CJ Jaramillo of Brighton

We recently had the chance to connect with CJ Jaramillo and have shared our conversation below.

Hi CJ, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Well, to break this down in the best way, I wake up and grab my coffee and head out the door to work. To be honest I really am a little out of the norm when it comes to work. I’m a blue collar woman that loves to model so I guess you can say I’m the best of both worlds. I come home to 3 amazing kids that forever have my heart. Make dinner and relax then turn in for the night to do it all over again. I couldn’t dream of another life

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Here it goes… Hi! I’m CJ a mom of 3 teenagers going through a mess but climbing to the top. I’m an owner of a small construction company and I’ve been doing construction for over 18 years now. My business is called Anything Customs. I’ve also been a model for about a little over 8 years now. I had a hiccup for a couple of years but now I’m bouncing back into the game! I’m also a published photographer well I’m published as a model too but lol I love the confidence it brings me and how it makes me feel I do however struggle with my self esteem which is getting better everyday

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
This one is a tough one. The moment that shaped me to who I am today was actually more than one moment. The first moment was when my sister passed away. I was 3 1/2. It was a complete life changing event. It made me so much stronger in life however. The second one was what I’m currently going through which is my divorce from my husband of 15 years. The main thing I’ve realized from it is I’m MUCH stronger than I believe and feel. My children deserve a strong momma and that’s exactly what they are getting.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
A lot to be completely honest. I have suffered through quite a bit and it’s made me a very strong woman It shows my kids that you can never give up from struggles or fails that you can’t control. Just push forward and keep your head up. It’s what makes you a warrior

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
The love I have for my family. The way I protect them no matter what and no matter what I’m going through I’m always there for them. And yes that includes the amazing man I have in my life which is my boyfriend Joe

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Letting the wrong people into my life who try to control me. Stop with the anger and sadness and live my life to the fullest like I have been trying and succeeding to do.
