Jaclyn Haugen shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Jaclyn, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
In the first 90 minutes of my day, I focus on making sure my international team is set up for success. I start by checking emails and messages to see if anything new or urgent has come in overnight. From there, I organize priorities so the team knows exactly what can’t wait and what needs immediate attention. Once that’s clear, we move into our regular tasks with confidence and focus. For me, it’s all about creating clarity and direction right at the start so our clients always feel prioritized.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jaclyn, the owner of DME (Digital Marketing Experts). At DME, we specialize in helping businesses grow through smart, strategic marketing—everything from social media and content creation to Google Ads and website design. What makes us unique is that we’re truly global. I work with a talented international team, and together we’re able to provide round-the-clock support and diverse perspectives for our clients.
My story is rooted in wanting to make marketing both effective and personal. Every client is different, so we put a lot of emphasis on listening, organizing, and prioritizing their needs to make sure they always feel supported. Right now, we’re focused on scaling for growth while still keeping that personalized, boutique feel that our clients value. For me, it’s not just about results—it’s about building relationships and helping businesses feel confident in their marketing
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
When I was younger, I believed that I had to reach a certain age, earn a specific degree, or gain a set amount of experience before I could achieve ‘success.’ Over time, I’ve realized that success isn’t about ticking boxes, it’s all around us. What really matters is being brave, staying determined, and being willing to put in the hard work. Opportunities are there for anyone ready to go after them, and that mindset shift has made all the difference in how I approach both life and business.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there was a time I almost gave up. Less than two years after I started my small business, my husband had a serious ski accident that took him out of the workforce for a full year. I had already left a six-figure corporate marketing position, and suddenly the responsibility of supporting our family fell entirely on me. In that moment, I considered quitting DME and going back to the stability of a corporate paycheck. But I pushed through, scaled my business quickly, and learned just how resilient and capable I really am.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in the marketing industry is that there’s a one-size-fits-all approach to success. Many agencies promise quick results or cookie-cutter solutions, but the truth is every business is different and requires thoughtful strategy, organization, and consistent effort. Another misconception is that marketing is all about flashy campaigns or big budgets, what really drives results is understanding your audience, prioritizing client needs, and doing the work consistently, day after day. At DME, we focus on clarity, strategy, and execution rather than chasing trends, because that’s what truly helps our clients grow.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients would miss the trust and accessibility I bring to our relationship. They know that every decision I make is with their best interests in mind, not just what makes me more money. I make it a point to respond the same day whenever possible, and never later than the next day. I also have a policy of always picking up the phone for a client—even on weekends—unless I’m with another client or in the middle of family time. Being available and genuinely invested in their success is something my clients really value.

These are mine. Two are traditional shots of me, and the rest are examples of our social media content. Honestly, we don’t focus on using social media to directly sell our services. Instead, we aim for entertainment, creating funny posts and GIFs for our feed that are relatable to other marketers and/or business owners. Here are a few examples.
