Lowdy `, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
My most recent moment that has made me most proud has been signing my first official distribution deal! Thanks to my manager Brandon Conner at New West Management and my amazing team I have officially signed with Its Gorgeous Musique based out of Las Vegas, Nevada. As an independent artist who has continually for years worked to strive for the next achievement this is a huge personal milestone. With this new company on board I as Lowdy Trail & New West Management plan on a new album, more music videos, and future shows to elevate the brand to a higher plateau then we are on now. I look forward to presenting everything me and my team have been working on for the future to all of my dedicated fans and support.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
In the vibrant realm of independent American lyricists and recording artists, one name stands out—better known as Lowdy Trail. Hailing from the picturesque city of Aurora, Colorado, Lowdy Trail is an artist who has been leaving an indelible mark on the music scene with his unique lyrical prowess and dedication to his craft.
Born on November 22nd, 1994, Lowdy Trail has been passionately pursuing his musical dreams for quite some time. With his stage name pronounced as “Low-Dee Trail,” he has carved a niche for himself in the world of hip-hop and rap.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Trust is what breaks the bonds between people in my life or line of work. Weather it be at home or in the workplace if people can’t trust you even for the most simple of tasks it breaks the relationship or bond you have with that person. You have to be an individual of your word and keeping your word is the hardest part. You can make failures in life and you can change your viewpoint on things but without the trust there is no beginning of the relationship to start with. Trust is what holds a relationship together cause then the bond shared between two people is a 100% there and it takes far more to break it. Honesty is what restores them when someone knows your being honest even when your in the wrong it begins a new path to help heal and grow. Honesty is what keeps someone in your circle even when your wrong cause they know they are getting a 100% raw answer. The honesty will help to figure out what went wrong and what can be done to make things right when a bond is broken. My best advice would be to stay honest and hold onto your trust when bonding with people to get the most accurate and real results.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, a time I almost gave up was when I was pretty much homeless and living on my cousins couch at his apartment. This was a very hard time for me in my life due to being in the middle of legal matters. I was struggling holding down a job for even two weeks at a time and my sobriety was no where to be found. I was in the middle of finishing another album and didn’t even know how I was going to finish it when I couldn’t even find the strength to go to work let alone finish a song. I was done in all honesty and praying that the drugs and alcohol would just finish the job at some points. It was terrible for my career and my mental health was so far gone the only thing I could put together was making it to the liquor store and back each day. The reason I can say almost now is cause the people around me woke me up and told me that this isn’t you. I moved to a different location and city and started a new chapter fixing my self. The people with me continued to check on me daily helping me grow and overcome each obstacles in my life. If not for those true friends and family that would be the end of not only my career but probably my life by the end of that year in all honesty.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies I’ve noticed told about my industry is that musicians or artists make great money or are rich. The industry is full of low paying streaming platforms and the amount of money you are going to make after the percentage cuts is not very high. As an artist you have to cut out a percentage to your producer on top of the percentages already cut out to the label or distribution company. If you have a manager you also have to cut out a percentage of your earnings to them also. Then you have to take into account how much of that money left over you need to put back into your company to continue to make music and market your self as an artist. Then if you are a full time artist you have to take out a percentage of that money to your bills and living situation. Now after all those percentages are taken out and you have paid your bills and put back money into your company your probably not going to be looking at a lot of money left over to your self to enjoy. So jumping into the music industry thinking your going to make a lot of money or be able to do all the wonderful big goals you have in life is far from the actual reality. My best advice for an up and coming artist is don’t quit your day job and you might even need two day jobs cause its going to be awhile before you actually start making enough money to where you can enjoy your self or spend it on your self in any way, shape, or form.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope to tell about me when i’m gone is the journey of my music career. I hope that when i’m gone those who follow and support me will see how much I invested into my journey and sacrificed. I want them to see all the ups and all the downs of my career to truly understand how much I went through mentally on this journey. I want them to see that I did something with my life and made sure to leave a stamp on this world that I was here and that I truly did chase my dreams. I want them to be inspired and to never quit chasing their dreams that’s whole point of me documenting everything I do in my career. I want people to look at my grave stone and say that man chased his dreams plain and simple.
