Mindy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One question I get a lot is why embroidery is so much more than options like DTF. The reality is that the machines for embroidery machines can run thousands of dollars. Most of my machines were over $10,000 each. When you factor that alone into the pricing of items, it is a large price point to start with compared to other options.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a veteran who struggled with PTSD after being medically retired. I found art therapy and starting hand sewing. The first creation I really worked with was felt ornaments in the shape of locations with a heart to denote a specific location. They became popular and became the source of the name Heart’felt’ Travels.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad was really who taught me the most about work and commitment.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
That the things that make you different are what people will look to when you get older.

I’m pretty much a ‘what you see is what you get’ kind of person.
