We’re looking forward to introducing you to Otisa Eads. Check out our conversation below.
Otisa, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now is a mix of creativity, connection, and settling into my new space here in Colorafo. Most mornings start with tea while I prep for coaching sessions in the BFF/Colleagues Pop Collective program or work on content for my new YouTube series, Teaside with Otisa. I spend a good chunk of the day connecting with clients—either in one-on-one sessions or planning strategies that help their teams thrive.
In between, I’m still unpacking and making my new place feel like home, which sometimes means arranging my sloth collection just right or finding the perfect corner for my records and DJ gear. Evenings are my time to recharge—sometimes with karaoke, sometimes with a nature walk, and other times curled up watching one of my comfort shows. Every day feels like a balance of doing the work I love, nurturing my creativity, and finding joy in the little things.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Otisa Eads, founder of Otisa Eads Consulting. I was born and raised in the tiny town of Westport, Kentucky, and now call Colorado home—where I balance my love for the city’s vibrant music scene with time spent in nature.
I help organizations create real, lasting transformation by integrating four guiding principles into everything I do: Transformation, Authenticity, Holistic Leadership, and Staff Advocacy. My work is all about building systems and structures that evolve alongside the organization, so leaders and teams can thrive together. Whether I’m helping a nonprofit strengthen its leadership culture, mediating to address power dynamics, or designing strategies that reflect an organization’s true mission and values, my goal is always to make change not just possible, but sustainable.
What makes my approach unique is the blend of structure and heart—I don’t believe HR has to be dry or disconnected. I take time to truly understand my clients, their concerns, and their dreams for the future, and then we work backwards to create a clear, actionable path forward. That means systems that work, processes that support people, and leaders who feel confident and connected to their teams.
Right now, alongside my consulting work, I’m having fun with my new YouTube series, Teaside with Otisa, where I share conversations on leadership, growth, and life over a cup of tea. I’m also coaching in the BFF/Colleagues Pop Collective program, helping individuals grow into the kind of leaders who inspire change.
At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: help organizations evolve, one authentic conversation and intentional strategy at a time.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I think the part of me that has served its purpose is the version of myself that felt I had to say “yes” to everything to prove my value. That drive helped me build my career and open doors early on, but it also left me stretched thin and disconnected from my own needs. Now, I’m learning to release that constant “yes” energy and replace it with intentionality—making choices from a place of alignment rather than obligation. It feels like a shift from proving myself to trusting myself.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
One of the most fulfilling parts of my work is when my clients truly listen—not just to my words, but to the heart behind them. I can think of many moments in coaching or strategy sessions when a client has paused, really taken in what I’ve shared, and then reflected it back in a way that shows they understand and are ready to act. Those moments make me feel deeply seen and valued. It’s a reminder that listening is not just about hearing—it’s about connection, trust, and shared commitment to growth.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say yes! I bring my authenticity into every interaction, whether it’s with clients, colleagues, or friends. The public version of me might be a bit more polished, while the private me is a little more low-key and casual—but the core essence, the values, and the heart are always the same.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I would stop holding onto self-doubt, stress, and anxiety. Life feels too precious to spend it worrying about what might go wrong or whether I’m “enough.” I’d focus instead on trust—trusting myself, the process, and the people around me—and spend my time fully showing up, creating, and connecting with what truly matters.
