VERONICA CARABALLO shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
VERONICA, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
“Integrity is most important, especially when you wear many hats”.
As an engineer, a musician, and a writer, I know how easy it is for different parts of your life to pull you in different directions. Intelligence helps me solve problems and think critically; energy gives me the drive to hustle between projects and late nights, but integrity is what makes all of that meaningful.
Integrity means staying true to your values, being honest with yourself and others, and delivering quality work, even when no one is watching. It’s the glue that holds together creative ambition, professional rigor, and personal relationships.
Without it, you risk burning trust, losing purpose, or compromising your voice.
So when I face tough decisions, whether in engineering design, song lyrics, or writing, I always let integrity lead. The rest follow.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Verónica Caraballo, an artist, musician, engineer, and storyteller whose journey is a symphony of creativity, authenticity, and purpose.
With a foundation in engineering, I founded Cavallone Design & Tech, where I craft tools and instruments “for bassists, made by bassists,” blending precision with artistic soul.
Music has always been my true north. I perform with Linger – The Cranberries Tribute Band, honoring the legacy of Dolores O’Riordan (based in Denver).
I am putting all of my love and effort into these projects:
Los Perinolas and Lomuel and The Moon of Cake.
Adventures and stories for children, hoping to keep childhood where it should be, since my own childhood was wonderful.
Storytelling is at the heart of everything I create. As an inspirational and creative writer, I explore urban narratives and human emotion through works like “She’s Gone” and “Inobedientia” (Disobedience), crafting tales that reflect resilience, curiosity, and the power of voice.
I see writing as a bridge, connecting hearts, igniting imagination, and inspiring transformation. Every project I touch carries a pulse of inspiration, inviting others to live authentically and embrace their own creative frequency.
I am expanding this vision, composing new sounds, developing innovative creative technologies, and sharing stories that awaken the imagination and celebrate the power of human expression.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory of feeling powerful was when I learned to ride a bicycle.
I still remember the exact moment my feet found the rhythm on the pedals, and I realized I was gliding through the air. I felt like I was flying, like I had superpowers.
That memory, along with other childhood moments of wonder, has stayed with me.
Over time, I’ve learned to transform these memories into a source of inspiration, a way to reconnect with the child within each of us and to awaken the joy and curiosity that bring us true happiness.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
Human beings, by nature, are born to be fighters, like everyone else in the food chain.
Crying, suffering, emotions, loneliness, hunger, desolation, illness, pain, these are things some of us experience more than others, with or without fault, or through our own actions.
I stopped hiding my pain the moment I realized it was trying to teach me something. Life doesn’t shy away from challenges, loneliness, loss, illness, sadness, but it can’t take away our power either. For a long time, I endured my difficulties in silence, as if they were shameful. Then I began to see them differently: every moment of suffering became a spark, a reminder of my resilience.
I learned to transform that pain into strength, to let it fuel my creativity, my compassion, and my courage.
Now I carry it like a flashlight, lighting the way to the child within me, to the joy and happiness that were always there, waiting to be reclaimed.
I can only express my thoughts, with the humanity around me: “Remember that nothing and no one has the power to change you, and there is no better promise than the one you make to yourself.”
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
Singing Christmas carols every year, strumming the guitar to urban songs, and inviting others, who might not know any other instrument, to join in, even if just by keeping the rhythm with drumsticks…
keeping the music natural, analog, and organic, letting the voice rise a cappella, it feels like hugs and laughter.
Experiencing a live choir, live music, is medicine for the soul, a gift we should keep seeking, sharing, and cherishing.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
There are many things I stopped doing a long time ago.
It’s not that I believe time is running out, but rather that I’ve learned to pause, to step back, and make room for what truly matters.
I sat down one day to think about what makes me happy, and that simple question led me to another: what should I release to fill my life and soul with smiles and joy?
Giving and receiving, those are the moments that make you go to bed with a full heart and wake up excited for another day filled with beautiful things.
Do good, without looking at who.
Smile at a stranger. Hold a door with warmth.
These small gestures remind you that the best parts of life are simple and shared.
And perhaps the greatest liberation of all is to stop obsessing over what others think of you.
The moment you let that go, you begin to live freely, fully, and truly.
