We recently had the chance to connect with Yung Q and have shared our conversation below.
Yung, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
Wake up, check my emails for any features or bookings for studio time. Make sure my kids have breakfast. Then go back and listen to anything I worked on the day before with fresh ears. Always helps to see anything I couldn’t see the night before. Then I try to clean my house up a bit since my kids like to make messes all day lol. Play some Call of Duty with my homies and sometimes go to gym and play basketball. Little bit of rocket league and then make dinner. My day is always so busy but no matter how many things I do during the day I’ll always make time for my baby’s and do things they want to do as well like go to parks or just chill watch movies play Roblox with them. A normal day lol

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Really tough question, but recently my daughter who was 6 at the time was diagnosed with a life threating auto immune disease and from that moment we was at the hospital almost every day staying for weeks at a time trying to figure out what to do, there is no cure but Doctors manage to figure out best treatment and that alone put my life on hold financially cost me a fortune just for her to get the correct treatment. No insurance would help since it’s a cancer related treatment she needed, thank god for my military service I was able to get my VA insurance and they help my daughter with majority of the cost almost 95 percent but bad thing was its 95 percent of over 100k a month which still left me with a huge amount out of pocket to cover, almost 5k a month in medical bills and with this issue I had to pay or they don’t treat her. So made me not focus on music and I work 3 different jobs to cover that and also maintain our living which made me realize life can change at any moment and need to enjoy the world and not let it pass me by. My daughter is in full remission as of 2025 so all blessings thanks to God and since that happen, I focused on music recording over 100 songs in short time frame with this newfound energy to make sure my kids are set for life in case I’m not here no more. God blessed us and even though wasn’t looking good for a while we never lost hope.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, when I saw my child in hospital crying scared knowing I can’t do nothing to fix her pain it made me so depressed and give up on all hope and life. I blamed myself I felt useless/hopeless. But out of nowhere she looks at me and says daddy its ok I’m strong and need you to be strong too. That made me break down in tears cause her little soul can see I was breaking down mentally. I Locked in from there I made sure no matter what she will be taken care of by best doctors and will get all the treatments she needs no matter if I have to work 24/7 to pay for it. I got it done for her. But that was a hard moment I almost gave up all hope. Thank God for the strength
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Depends on what you mean by public version lol as an artist who reaches a certain level public versions become whatever people/fans make up to other people. Basically, if I make songs about drugs, I’ll be considered to public a drug addict or dealer. Which of course not true I don’t do drugs or drink. But again, public sees the artist not the person. And then of course there’s haters or people who are jealous of success they can’t get or have gotten yet. And that’s where people will make up lies about an artist to hurt or tarnish their reputations such as saying he a scammer or steals music or he’s a player or even worst make fake accusations to ruin public image. This happens so often it’s hard to truly know facts. When I reach a certain level, I had so many people I never met in my life know everything about me because this person said this or that person said that. Taking pictures making fake news or even spreading rumors to try to get other people to think it’s true. Honestly it amazes me the level of hate people have for people they never met and that alone shows why I’m where I’m at in my career and where they are at. I never been one to entertain any kind of lie or false accusations if you believe it then ok that’s on you won’t change or stop my hustle. Public versions of me are I’m a drug addict or a criminal so ya not real ha-ha people who know me know I’m a kindhearted person who helps anybody in need and also an amazing father as I have my kids all the time people who know me know. I keep my life private so I feel it could be my fault I’m not as open or active on social media like most celebrities. I don’t like to be fake and just post things I’m doing I want the fans to see it, but I don’t need to brag about things most celebrities with post things to show off their wealth they don’t have or just things to make it seem like it’s something it’s not. I never been that type when I post its about family or a project I’m working on everything else is private. Keeps all the outside noise away being a celebrity now a days is hard trying to please everybody, so I focus on myself let my music and number speak for me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
Traveling more, I was so scared to fly I turned down shows because the travel. Now I’m like ok I’ll do it cause i love my fans and I love performing I have a tour coming soon where I need to be in at least 33 different states and flying is a must and if i don’t do this now I’ll watch my future pass me by and id for sure regret that. Plus, the fans been waiting and i know it will grow a lot more once the music gets out there to everybody.
