Will Hubert of Downtown on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Will Hubert shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Will, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start the day by making coffee and then editing video or writing music, just depends on what is the priority for that day.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Will, and I’m a musician based in Denver, Colorado. I perform with several artists, but my main creative focus is my band, Elektric Animals. We create catchy indie rock that balances themes of darkness and hope. Much of our writing comes from personal struggles with negative thinking and the search for clarity and light through it.

Our latest release, “LULLABY,” captures that feeling perfectly. It reflects who we are as a band and where we’re headed, with more new music on the way soon.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My father is unbreakable. Nothing could faze him and he never cared how difficult a task was. He made no excuses and always focused on solving the problem.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Every single day

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’m probably masking to some extent. I want people to feel comfortable around me, and I want them to feel the way I wish I could feel myself.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
This is something I was born to do. No one would choose this path just because they were told to. There’s no money, comfort, stability, or guaranteed praise in what I do — but I can’t imagine doing anything else.
