Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Joy.
Alicia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was searching for a way to depart the corporate lifestyle. I wished to be of service to people in their personal lives rather than their work lives. I knew I had a gift for massage and energy work, but I was looking for something more. My friend Chris invited me to a yoga studio opening where we met lots of interesting people. One massage therapist had an LED light system she used for reducing pain and inflammation. In that moment I realized I’d found what I was looking for. I became inspired and took action move forward. That was March 9, 2012. I am seven years into this new life and very happy I took the leap of faith.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My greatest question was “Where do customers come from?” I gained much respect for salespeople. Having mostly been in operations I had little knowledge about attracting customers. Marketing is a special skill. I still have a lot to learn. I worked several part times jobs until my client base grew large enough to maintain my private office.
Higher Mind Healing – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Higher Mind Healing is a private, sacred space for being uplifted. The intention is to feel better in Body, Mind, and Spirit when you leave. I specialize in LED Light sessions. A person can choose between a Chakra Wand balancing session for their energy field or a light system session that is focused at the physical level. Either approach releases tension and enhances wellbeing. I have a saying about the lights: “The body is like a car battery. It loses charge over time. We can recharge our cells by absorbing light.” I incorporate energy work with massage work. I am known for my intuitive touch. Every session is generally the same, yet unique. I often use Tibetan singing bowls, bells, rattles, crystals, and essential oils to enhance one’s sense of balance. I am most proud to be of good service to those who seek me out. I have received 5-star reviews for seven years now. Oftentimes people are discouraged with certain health situations. They are looking for hope. Embracing the Lights might just create wonder for you.
We always love to ask about the support network – have there been people, perhaps mentors or advisors, who have played a big role in your success?
Annette S. noticed my natural gift for massage work. She mentored me for three years. I was formally trained and was her teacher’s aide for Swedish massage classes. This was while living at the Grand Canyon South rim. Joanne W. taught me reflexology in her garage at the Grand Canyon. She called me at my office one day and requested I stop by on my walk home. She inquired if I would mind working on her foot. Of course, I was happy to. I became absorbed by her left pinky toe metatarsal joint. Finally, I felt it shift. Joanne said “Ah” and her body relaxed. She said, “Thank you, you put my shoulder back in place.” It was in the habit of popping out of the joint due to polio as a child. She taught me the power of Reflexology. My family encouraged me to follow my dream. My cousin, Dr. O’Reilly, has been a great advocate especially for the energy work I do by providing valuable feedback and business advice.
