Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Shareef.
Ashley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Growing up, I was always involved in the arts–I remember being about five when I had my first “Art Show” and had my Dad purchase a piece of work. I did local art activities, enjoyed music (choir and band), as well as, theater. I was introduced to Graphic Design when I was asked to do the poster for one of my high school musicals. I literally taught myself Photoshop by clicking around trying to make this poster! From there, I was hooked. I now realize Design is my natural lens on the world–I’m always wondering how things work, how it can be better and how it impacts people.
Following high school, I found myself at design school in Savannah (SCAD), followed by a Marketing Design internship at Hallmark Cards working on internal brand projects. This solidified my interest in branding strategy and design and after a few years in corporate America, I started my business, AGD Studio.
Has it been a smooth road?
Ha! I’m learning it wouldn’t be life if it was a smooth road. Parenthood has definitely taught me that. I’ve also been learning a lot about living in my truth; what works for me doesn’t have to work for another person, and (most importantly)… that’s okay.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with AGD Studio – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
AGD Studio is a branding strategy and marketing design studio for businesses, entrepreneurs and events. Our value lies in our big picture, the structured design approach for small to mid-sized businesses. My corporate background allows me to adequately create and build a brand with the future in sight. Plus, I’m a small business owner myself, so I understand the entrepreneurial journey and can connect to my clients on a different level.
No matter the size of your idea, event or business, you need a visual foundation to support you! With that in mind, I would also say a big part of my process is a partnership. I work closely to build brands that reflect the intersections of character, connection, and perspective. In the future, I would love to start designing spaces for my clients, taking their brands beyond the digital and print spheres.
There are more and smaller, independent branding studios popping up in the design arena, and I am proud to be one!
