Meet Casey Miller of Sun Prairie Films in Commerce City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey Miller.

Casey, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My husband, and high school sweetheart, Michael, started our business in 2013, in Sun Prairie, WI. We were both working at a local credit union when Michael decided to quit because he needed a change. We started as a simple video company but soon realized the wedding industry is where we wanted to be. Michael convinced me to quit my stable job with my health insurance and a 401k, and it was the best decision ever. We did six weddings in our first year of business and jumped up to over 30 the next year in 2014.

In November 2014, we decided to move back home to Colorado where most of our family was; this turned out to be ample timing as I found out I was pregnant with our first son, Archie. It was one of our last weddings in WI where I thought how amazing it would be to not only learn professional photography to add to the business but to be a husband and wife team in the wedding industry. In 2015, we added photography and have steadily increased the number of our weddings each year. We’re so lucky to do what we do. We have the privilege to travel all around our beautiful state and beyond while befriending some of the sweetest, most amazing people!

Has it been a smooth road?
For the most part, God has blessed us with a pretty smooth road in our business. We’ve been lucky to have some great mentors and other small business owners speak truth and life into us, as well as provide incredible advice.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sun Prairie Films – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
Our business is Sun Prairie Films – a photography and videography company that specializes in documenting people’s wedding days. We think it’s unique that we are a husband and wife team offering both in this industry, as both photo + video are becoming very popular. We love bold, crisp, true to life colors, and we’ve been lucky to find our niche in clientele: people who genuinely love each other, ‘The Office’ (and/or ‘Parks & Rec’), and laughing – in no particular order 🙂

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
There are so many things I love about Denver: the proximity to the Rocky Mountains and other amazing cities, the culture, the people, and the breweries – just to name a few. Like any city, I would love to see more community and unity, but I fear that’s mostly a product of the times and where our country’s as a whole.
