Today we’d like to introduce you to Devan Fuller.
Devan, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My story is not unlike other children of active duty military families. Moving and adapting to new states, homes, friends and schools. Throw in a divorce freshman year of high school for good measure and the potential for teenage disaster was a good bet! I fell victim to body image issues, severe bulimia (I’ve been in active recovery for five years now!), and a series of unhealthy relationships. I’d need to write a book to explain the entirety of it all! By the time I graduated from high school I was ready to embark on a clearer path. I have second-guessed most decisions in my life but becoming a nurse was not one of them. I grew up watching my mom, a career nurse, work in many different arenas – the most recent being aesthetics. During my high school years, nearly ten years ago, I worked the front desk of her first Med-Spa in Arizona. I was born to take care of people and at first desired to work in a hospital setting with more acute care opportunities.
I graduated from Northern Arizona University with my BSN and took off to Colorado to work my first nursing gig. I initially took a job in a sub-acute rehab facility but later ended up on the Medical/Oncology Unit at MCR. I loved the meaningful work, especially the fast pace and diversity of the patient load. After several years, I began to realize there was another area that was blossoming and probably had a longer shelf life for me than the constant stress and often sadness of inpatient Medical/Oncology. The path I’d envisioned for myself was changing and just like that, my sights were set on aesthetic nursing. I spent two years vigorously studying, attending numerous trainings and meeting anyone and everyone I could to become the absolute best aesthetic nurse injector I could be. I was given the opportunity to work alongside my mother in a busy Washington practice, seeing on average 20-25 clients in a day. These two years of preparation inspired me enough to come back to Colorado and hit the ground running. Then, Symmetry Aesthetics was born!
Has it been a smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth but every bump along the way has added value to the process. Opening up your first business is WAY more work than anyone tells you it will be! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…If you want something go get it! You can’t expect anyone to give it to you that’s just not how this world works. It boils down to not letting the bad days win and cherishing the good ones while they last. Your mind will believe everything you tell it so make sure you’re feeding it faith, truth and love. Keep making moves no matter the length of your stride just keep moving. Surround yourself with people who will hold you up when you feel like the floor is caving in. Realize nothing is perfect and things will go wrong, learn to roll with it. Show up every day willing to hustle as hard as you need to in order to make your dreams a reality. And for the love of God be kind and stay humble throughout the process. All the obstacles leading up to this point have been well worth it because my ultimate goal with Symmetry Aesthetics is to help people feel comfortable in their own skin and love themselves, invaluable concepts that I’ve been grateful enough to experience. Learning to love yourself for who YOU are is a journey and I am passionate about supporting my clients through it.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Symmetry Aesthetics is a concierge injectable clinic located near the downtown area of Fort Collins. We are not just another “Med-Spa”, it is important for us to provide an experience and to build a lasting relationship with our clients. Our team is a Mother/ Daughter duo with more than 40 years of nursing experience. We truly care about your concerns and safety. We want to create a plan that will help you achieve your aesthetic goals. We are known for our natural, global approach to facial rejuvenation. Refreshed, relaxed and revitalized are adjectives used to describe the results achieved by our team.
We are most proud of our unique dynamic as a Mother and Daughter team, which allows us to identify with a broad spectrum of ages and their aesthetic journeys. Shout out to my wonderful mother, Marty Raymond who has been killing the aesthetic game for the last 16 years as a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist and Certified Allergan Trainer across the nation! She currently divides her time between Symmetry Aesthetics and a busy Plastic Surgery Center in Tacoma, WA. Our commitment to safety, education and continued credentialing along with personalities you’d have to meet to understand is what sets us apart. We are also blessed to have the award winning Dr. Ralph Reynolds as our Medical Director. His achievements are innumerable but most importantly he is a Maxillofacial Surgeon with over 20 years of experience to include complex facial reconstructive surgeries.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Without a doubt in my mind! Denver and the surrounding areas are progressively growing and blooming with aesthetic opportunities. The statistics show that aesthetics will be a forty-four billion dollars industry in the next five years. With the growing popularity of aesthetics and injections someone just starting out would do very well in Denver and its surrounding areas as long as their passion, skill, and determination is evident.
