Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Thurston.
Hannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Ida+Moon started out as a handmade jewelry brand and is quickly evolving into a desert inspired lifestyle shop. The current jewelry collection, known as “The Valley of Fire Collection,” was actually inspired by the Valley of Fire state park in Nevada. Hannah Thurston, the owner, designer, artist, curator and stylist of Ida+Moon is forever inspired by the desert for its effortless beauty, color palette and history. Growing up in Colorado and California she spent a lot of time in the desert and grew a love and appreciation for Native American and western culture. You will notice the aesthetic in her modern handmade designs as well as in her curated high end vintage collection.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running your own business is not easy. I am pretty much a one women show. I make everything by hand, source found items myself, manage my website and social media platforms, and the list goes on…
IDA+MOON – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
IDA+MOON is a desert lifestyle brand that is still evolving. The brand currently consists of a modern handmade jewelry line and a curated collection of found goods. We specialize in both southwestern and 1970s vintage clothing. We are known for having high end unique pieces. Our handmade line is known for being unique and well made with exquisite attention to detail. IDA+MOON is most proud of being a highly curated shop and will always stay true to where our roots come from.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Having dreams of being an online store, selling in boutiques and markets and seeing it all finally come to life.
