Meet Rachel Lubanowski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Lubanowski.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Let’s say that “beautification” is in my genes… I come from a hard-working family that takes pride in everything they do. I’ve been taught to pay attention to the details, stay curious and ask questions, improve processes along the way, AND actually make things look better through quality, lasting improvements.

I have a history steeped in art and have a BFA in Fashion Design. Throughout the years, I’ve had a number of side-hustles, hobbies, and “petite businesses” that have generated income and one thing has stayed constant – all of them have had to do with “beautification” in one way or another. (The early days of selling handmade wares on Etsy, designing and creating one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces and home accessories, personal styling, photoshoot styling, organization, and visual merchandising.) In the past ten years or so, I’ve found my true love of supporting small businesses, whether through in-person events and networking, creating an online directory, or actually shopping at them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think having your business is ever smooth! A few things I’ve struggled with have been nailing down exactly what I’d like to offer, figuring out cost for my services (every artist struggles with pricing their art!), and finding my flow of working from home.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My current business (which is simply my name) combines my design talents and varying experiences with my passion for small business success. Together these pieces work harmoniously to give small businesses the boost and guidance they need to thrive! I specialize in “brand beautification” and am a small business advocate.

Throughout the years, I’ve come across so many businesses that struggle due to lack of marketing know-how or vision, inconsistent design aesthetics, and “vibe” or zero online presence. I feel as though I’ve found my niche and have been so happy to help entrepreneurs, service providers, boutique owners and therapists navigate through an array of projects including launches, marketing, visual merchandising and product sourcing, interior space refreshes, social media management, graphic design overhaul, website creation/updates and more.

I’m incredibly proud to work with such inspiring business owners. I’ve learned something from each person I’ve worked with and am so thankful for them!

I believe my work sets me apart from others because of my extensive history working for and with small businesses. I’ve worn many different hats and can offer business owners very customized services that an agency or larger firm cannot.

What were you like growing up?
As a child and teen, I was very interested in the arts (thanks Mom and Dad!), reading, and spending time with family and friends. My creations always took center stage and I dabbled in everything from sewing, painting, ceramics, macramé, and jewelry-making.
