Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Jennings.
Erica, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been known as a thrill-seeker and risk-taker, but my family and friends started to question my sanity when I was six months pregnant with my third child and decided to start my own business- The Voyage Life. I was working six days a week and putting in 65+ hours with my career in the NFL. I was the marketing and sponsorship manager for the Denver Broncos for seven years when I knew it was time for a change. That change led me to the entrepreneurial space helping other women escape the rat race that I was in for over a decade.
When I first started The Voyage Life, I lived the adrenaline + coffee addiction life trying to make big things happen with my new wellness business. The Voyage Life is all about helping women gain time and financial freedom while making a positive change in their lives by starting a health and wellness business and using it as a platform to create change and serve others. I have helped so many women begin their entrepreneurial journey with The Voyage Life and now my mission is to champion women in all businesses by showing them that collaboration with others female entrepreneurs is the missing piece to what’s holding them back from six or seven figure income.
At the end of 2018, my business started to slow down, I was feeling burnt out and just really needed more accountability, fresh ideas and other women pushing me to do MORE. Running your own business has lots of perks but it also can be challenging and lonely. It was at that time that I knew I needed something BIGGER, so I wanted to join a mastermind. When I first went to find a Mastermind I was looking here in Denver and realized there wasn’t one- I actually ended up joining a group out of L.A. There are tons of “networking” events here in Denver, passing out business cards, etc. but I have really learned those things don’t grow your business, they don’t challenge you to think of new business ideas, push you out of your comfort zone and really allow you to connect with other women.
Therefore, The Influencers Collective was created! A four-month-long Mastermind collective with Denver women looking to up-level their business both professionally and personally in a like-minded and entrepreneurial community. It will run from September-December 2019 and each month we will be focusing on different themes to help grow your business. It will also include a VIP event each month for us to connect and gather.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest challenge is that running your own business can sometimes be lonely.
When I started to doubt my own dreams and vision for this entrepreneurial journey, I knew that I needed to get out of my own head and be a part of a community of women that I could link arms with and chase after our dreams together.
I love being a mom, but I needed less bedtime negotiations and more business strategy sessions. I was craving whiteboarding sessions, big picture ideas, and a tribe to help my business thrive.
We hear this all the time: it takes a village to raise kids. Your brand is also your baby, and it takes a village to help it grow into all that you envisioned it to be. Sometimes we need two (or five) brains to keep ideas and strategy fresh. We need a different set of eyes to make sure we’re moving in the right direction. We need someone to push us to levels that we never imagined were possible on our own.
My community brought me back to life after being consumed by “mom life” and cultivating that type of community for other women to experience that same feeling of “coming home” has been my greatest pursuit.
I can’t think of many things I love more than being a part of other women’s villages and being a cheerleader and champion for women in business. You were made to make bold moves and take up big space in this entrepreneurial world, and I love to help women take their gifts and scale a business to a level they didn’t even know was possible.
Please tell us about The Influencers Collective.
I created The Influencers Collective for the dreamers, shakers, and movers in this space who felt like I did when I was building my brand from the ground up – lonely and worn out.
You may have a dream in your heart but lack the courage to say GO or a roadmap in hand with no idea where your True North is. This program is designed to be your guide, your accountability, and your blueprint to leveling up in your business.
So if you’ve been feeling like you’re on an island in your business or that your wheels are spinning and you’re not going anywhere monumental: welcome to a community of women who get you.
I keep these words from Earl Nightingale close to my heart:
“Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway.”
Everyone tells you to dream big. In fact, they tell you to dream so big that it scares you. But where do we go from there? You’re either selling yourself short with your dreams because it’s been too hard to turn them into a reality or you’re feeling defeated by this unnerving feeling that you could be growing into more. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking and time is passing even in your inaction.
Take a second to imagine this scenario:
You have a dream in your heart that keeps you up at night. Your idea journal is completely inked up with all of the different directions that this business could grow in to, but you’ve found yourself either tapped out or missing the direction to take you from Point A to Point B. You’ve seen success in your business, but you’ve started to outgrow yourself, or worse, you’ve boxed yourself in and can’t seem to get to the level that you know you’re capable of.
Now envision this same dream in your heart, but now you’re apart of a rich and trustworthy community that is going to champion you towards this dream while holding you accountable to your goals. A team of compasses that guide you from dreamer to doer with direct access to mentors and coaches that will push your business to the best version of itself. You have clear direction and mentorship and the limitations that were once holding you back have been completely lifted.
I know which version of this story that I want for you which is why I created The Influencers Collective.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Traveling with my family to all sorts of fun places. My family loves to travel so making memories each summer at the beach has been something I am now doing with my family.
