Today we’d like to introduce you to Shirley Clark.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Shirley. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Once upon a time, long long ago, Performing arts became my passion. I yearned for burning stage lights, music scores, dress up and storytelling. The stage became my second home in dance, theatre and in choir. Having experienced so many great roles and themes Over the years, I never wanted it to end. I then decided to audition for one of America’s top conservatories for the performing arts, where I was accepted with a scholarship to the American musical and Dramatic Academy in Los Angeles.
With so much excitement, my mom, best friend and I decided to take an early trip to California! It started with a Disneyland trip where we caught Aladdins Musical spectacular at the Hyperion. I was overwhelmed with amazement! It gave me the same spark from my childhood dreams of every watched VHS of happily ever afters.
Later, We visited a local costume shop where my friend spotted a princess jasmine costume and we immediately bought it. Fast forward to the day I finally wore the costume out to lunch after a princess photoshoot and was approached by sweet girls and boys asking for pictures and hugs. I then knew I was meant to use my gifts to spread the magic of kindness and inspiration, hope, determination and love. After independently character appearing I later found Princess Parties of the Rockies! I stepped right out of storybook that led me to the children’s hospital, birthday parties, and many events. Years later, I bought the company and have been creating my own little fairytale ever since. It has been a dream come true.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
All Businesses have struggles. I do sometimes experience the less magical side of things. This is not a job you do if you want to get rich, most of the money does go back into the business. I’ve had people tell me to grow up or to get a real job but I haven’t reached the point in my life where I know it’s time to hang up the crown. I enjoy what makes myself and others happy although it comes with stressful days. I definitely lose sleep over how I can consistently level up each year and experience a lot of roadblocks on how I can do that. I’ve had failures time and time again but the important part is that I tried and I’ll keep trying until I get to where I want to be. It’s about choosing and making the life you want. Either you work for your own dream or you work for someone else’s. I also learned that you can’t do it all by yourself! Accept the help, find the right people, and push through the villains of life.

Princess Parties of the Rockies specializes in high-quality entertainment to create an immersive experience for both children and adults! Our events and birthday parties provide the most magical experience with imaginative play, storytelling, and performing arts for any occasion. We are a faith-based company who believes in the importance of creative thinking, friendship, kindness and so much more!
We achieve our character line up with custom wigs and beautiful costumes that are custom fit to our cast members and regularly upgraded to keep up with the authenticity of our characters. Our cast members have performed with Disney College program, America’s Got Talent, and some of the top conservatories in the world. Our performers work timelessly to portray their characters perfectly by focusing time on vocal lessons & speech, improvisation makeup and look, and stamina, and so much more. We regularly hold meetings and trainings to be the real deal.
We are most proud of our interaction with the community, a community that has given us so much more! We have donated a lot of time in children’s hospitals, nonprofit organizations, 5K walks, and elementary schools. We have witnessed so many children eager for the best in life and although we can not grant every wish, our hearts burst with joy seeing one more smile because of us!
We are more than just a business-that is what sets us apart. We genuinely care for children and for families. We care to give them a moment of happiness that sticks with them forever.
Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I’m very grateful for the good and bad I’ve experienced in life. So many factors have led me to the place I am in now.
