Meet Synnea Lopez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Synnea Lopez.

Synnea, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My photography journey started as an honest hobby, I wanted to buy a DSLR camera to take pictures for fun. It was the first really expensive thing that I bought with my own money, and I was so proud of it. When I bought my camera in 2015 which was the same year, I graduated high school, I never in a million years thought I would venture into being a professional photographer. Throughout the next couple years after I picked it up and took pictures of my dog, nature and some things for family, at that point I didn’t know anything about editing or settings that I needed to have my camera on for me to take awesome pictures. Fast forward to February 2018 when my goddaughter was born, she was my first ever “real” photoshoot. I knew that I loved taking pictures at this point but still didn’t know what was in store. So, while I was taking her new born portraits I FELL in love with capturing that moment with her and posing her and changing her cute little outfits and just being creative with it. After finishing the photoshoot with her I knew this was something I wanted to do, so throughout 2018 I did photoshoots with family and friends and started learning more about how to edit and work and utilize this tool that I had. 2019 was a REALLY big year for me, this was the year that my website went live, the most photoshoots I have ever done, as well as the most profit I have made thus far. I think I saw the most growth in my business when I merged my personal Instagram account with my business account, that’s when I started booking more people and being able to showcase more passion for my work.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it hasn’t been all that easy. I could never really tell when my next photoshoot was or even if I would have another one. When I booked photoshoots, they would most likely be three weekends in a row filled with photoshoots. So, throughout those weeks I was busy with editing and uploading them to my website but then I would hit another couple months where I didn’t have any photoshoots until the next kind of wave that came. Even though I did struggle with the inconsistency of booking photoshoots, when I did book, I was so grateful to my clients for booking their session with me. Other than having that struggle, the rest seemed to happen pretty organically and I am so grateful for that.

Please tell us about your busines.
My business is called SynneaLynn Photography and I specialize in outdoor and studio portraits. which would include but not limited to; Couples (Engagement/For Fun/Weddings), maternity, new born, dance, headshots, family, senior, birthday (1st Birthday/Smash Cake/Older kiddo’s birthday), graduation and honestly anything fun and creative. I’m just so proud of how much I have grown over the last year due to my business and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here, it’s all up from here. I would say what sets me apart from other photographers is the way I edit. I want to stay very true to the moment and just enhance to colors and make sure the person/people I’m photographing are flawless. I also think my pricing is very affordable especially with how many photos you get and don’t have to pay for “extra” pictures.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Growing up with a large Hispanic family, I was always used to the big parties for every occasion and having most of my family here in Colorado. But the family that I didn’t see at all these big family functions lived in Mexico, and when I was very young, I would stay over there in Mexico with that family that I didn’t always get to see. So being able to travel to Mexico to see that family and make fun memories with them growing up are definitely my favorite childhood memories. When I did travel to Mexico, I would spend anywhere from one month to four months over there without my mom or dad and those are the times I cherish the most from my childhood. I remember just being with all my cousins either playing at the park or walking down the street to the little shop to get candy and walking back or watching and helping my grandma cook for everyone.
