Meet Gordon Lewis and Grace Easley of Roma Ransom in Colorado Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gordon Lewis and Grace Easley.

Roma Ransom started out when Grace and Gordon met in Springfield, Missouri. Gordon had recently quit college and decided to take his banjo with him downtown. When he arrived, he met his friend on the square who was a pedicab driver so he hopped in the back and played his banjo as he went around downtown. On his voyage, he happened to spot Grace playing violin with her friend.

At first, the pedicab went around the block so Grace didn’t know where Gordon had went. All of the sudden he appeared and asked if she would like to jam. He was waiting to go on a float trip so Grace and Gordon busked until he had to leave.

A few weeks later, Gordon went by Grace’s house and left a message asking if she would like to hang out again. Sure enough, she took him up on the offer and they begin to be attracted to one another. Before too long they took off on a west coast trip which inspired them to pursue their passion for performing fulltime. They got a steady gig at Gem of India (a restaurant in Springfield, MO) which allowed them to save up enough money to hit the road and move out to Colorado where they continue to live and perform to this date.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As with any relationship/business partnership the road can be bumpy and the waters can be choppy but luckily Grace and Gordon have been able to persevere and work through the tough times. Tour and Travel can wear on any individual and Roma Ransom is no exception. We have been paying our dues through booking full tours throughout the Midwest/West Coast and Canada. We have been able to hare our passion together and also do what we love (traveling and performing)

We are blessed to have a supportive community that helps us book gigs and have an audience.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Our duo Roma Ransom plays eclectic bohemian world folk jazz music that aims at transcending our audience and invigorating the crowd with tunes that can transport the listener. We hope that our style sets ourselves apart from others because it is unique, original and somewhat new to the music scene in terms of blending genres. We are proud of the music we create because we truly believe that it uplifts the spirit and gives listeners a chance to escape their normal routine of life for the better.
