Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Bauder.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kelsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Hello, I’m Kelsey! I’m a Colorado native and salon owner in Louisville, Colorado. I started my cosmetology journey in 2014 at Paul Mitchell the school Denver. I graduated in 2016 and was working two jobs at the time. I was a receptionist at a salon in Lafayette Co and I worked as a clinical assistant at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
I always ask myself why it took me so long after I graduated high school in 2010 to find a career that I completely fell in love with but I’m not sure if I’ll ever know. While working at children’s, I spent lots of time working with adolescents who’ve suffered from eating disorders and not feeling beautiful or accepting themself for who they are. You’re probably thinking, “what does this have to do with becoming a hairdresser?” Well, let me tell you.
Doing hair isn’t just about the hair. It’s SO MUCH MORE! It’s about making a difference in ALL women, men and children’s lives. Building a personal connection, helping others find their beauty and making them feel confident is something I’ve always been passionate about. Becoming a hairdresser is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me besides meeting my husband and adopting our two pups!.
Lastly, I never would’ve thought that by 2019, I’d become a business owner of All aBauder hair Co. and still work at children’s two days a week. I am fortunate enough to thrive in a profession that I love so much. This industry has helped me grow not only as an artist but as a person. So thankful for everyone who helped me get here.
Has it been a smooth road?
I struggled the most with feeling confident that I’d be good enough or pushing myself to be better and taking every opportunity to get to where I am today.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the All aBauder Hair Co story. Tell us more about the business.
I have owned my business for a year now. I work at my salon three days a week and work at a children’s hospital two days a week. I specialize in balayage and blonding. I am most proud of my business and myself for never giving up on my dreams and pushing myself to always do better and keep myself educated. There are so many opportunities in this career. Take every single one.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I can see myself getting into more education. Helping others learn about everything in this industry, really. Techniques, dos, don’ts. Color lines, formulating.
