Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Bilderback
Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started out as a 1st grader going door to door selling my mom’s painting’s. I just knew that I loved them and that I made people happy when I would come by. I continued learning and growing artistically by watching my mom, I realized my love for art was much deeper. I went to interior design school following a career with the Gallery of Neiman Marcus, an experimental Gallery in Seattle, WA. After design school I traveled and visited all of the art galleries and museums possible so that I could continue on with more knowledge of the arts. Living in NYC and SF were huge learning experiences, I was constantly at MOMA and the Metropolitan museum of art. After years of growing and learning we ended up back in Wyoming. I ended up living on a ranch in Wyola , MT. Then moving to Buffalo, WY. where I opened the Powder River Art Gallery. The space was about 450sq. Ft. and the town has about 4,300 population. The locals were supportive right off the bat so, an investor decided to get involved and we moved to a 1,000sq. ft. Gallery downtown on Main St. Buffalo. The gallery is now located in Cheyenne, WY. In a beautiful 2,400.00 sq. ft. space. We dedicate our lives to this gallery, to the arts, supporting the arts in the community and the artists whom we represent.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As well all know starting a business is rough in it’s self but with a seasonal business going into Covid 19 it’s been a real task. We managed to relocate, find new gallery and remodel within a month of re-opening. With up’s and down’s lockdowns etc. We’re feeling the stress as everyone is and trying to improve online marketing and sales it’s been tough. We had the (CIC) Creative Indigenous Collective of well known indigenous native American artist’s have to cancel they’re month long event here due to reservations locking down. We’re just hopeful that they all stay safe.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Powder River Art Gallery specializes in contemporary western art, mostly fine art paintings and sculpture. We have very unique one of a kind works. We take pride in selecting the artists and helping them grow, weather it’s someone all ready established to someone up and coming in the art world we take great pride in them and they’re work. Here we have an interior design back ground and fine art back ground which helps us to be able to out fit whole office’s and home’s. From one special piece to several. We are so proud to be part of the area of Wyoming and Colorado, it is a perfect place to discover artists! virtual shows, live shows, entertainment from music to magicians at our art openings. We offer a full bar and food at all of our event’s and a full bar to cater to our clientele for private showings.
What matters most to you?
Art is what matters most to me because I believe everything stems to it and from it. My passion is something that I really don’t know how to explain other than the amazing feeling it gives me to see others benefit from it. To me art unifies the world, and brings all people together in one commonality.
