Check Out Louis Fagelson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Louis Fagelson.

Hi Louis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been rapping since I was a kid in elementary school. That said, I didn’t start consistently writing music or playing shows until 2019. What made me start taking music seriously was an opportunity to write for Compose Yourself Magazine, a music/arts/culture publication that covers ranging from smaller local acts to those that sell out Red Rocks. I was covering the Research Wednesdays every Weds. at Cervantes and was introduced to Jordan Polovina and Mikey Thunder. Those two gave me my first opportunity to perform on stage. It just so happened that the first night I ever performed in my life, Griz came to Cervantes to play a secret set later that night. I met Grant backstage and had the chance to tell him how much I appreciate his music. That evening changed my mind, and I’ve been consistently writing music and performing ever since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every journey has ups and downs. While I’m extremely grateful to get to work with some of the most talented producers/musicians in Denver, my lack of a serious background in music has presented challenges for me. Many of my peers have been performing/writing music for years, so I have a lot of catching up to do. Also, the business side of music is something I’m still learning. The networking aspect is obviously huge, and as a newcomer I know that I still have a long way to go to create a network of promoters/fans/venue owners to continue to push my music career forward.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Rapping is what I currently feel strongest with in terms of creating music. That said, I have been producing almost every day of quarantine. While my producing still has a long way to go, it has seen massive improvements in the past nine months. I also have been practicing my scratching, and even played a live stream with my friend Sarah Mount’s band. My newest single, Corvette, can be found on Spotify here –https://open.spotify.com/track/5wih1GjoE8DMuPZEFxFTAf?si=bT8l36zCT9aFKzxI1ZXeNA You can expect my first self-produced track to release sometime in March.

What does success mean to you?
Making music with my friends and playing shows is a dream come true. Success, to me, is just enjoying the journey.
