Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlin Pickle and Natalie Lynch.
Hi Ashlin and Natalie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Before becoming business partners, we were longtime friends, and each of us had previously created and built our design businesses. Since we would often consult with each other on projects, there were many times when we discussed the idea of going into business together. Subsequently, in 2018 we decided to move forward as business partners in the creation of Pure Indigo Interiors, and we continue to love the collaboration we share every day.
In the beginning, our business covered all aspects of interior design and home staging, but we quickly learned that interior design was more fulfilling for us than home staging, and we especially enjoy residential design! Over time, we shifted into being a full-service design firm, and we incorporate all aspects of a project so it is completely handled for our clients and off their plates altogether. We appreciate all of the details of a project, and we’ve found this model to be more fulfilling and successful on all fronts!
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Overall, we would say Pure Indigo Interiors has been fairly smooth going. Having each other to lean on is very helpful, but also, our motto has always been to grow slowly and steadily. We have been intentional about that, as it has been really important to us that our clients are very well taken care of and we are not putting too much on our plates.
Of course, lessons are always learned along the way, and one of them has been in selecting projects that feel like a good fit for both us and our clients. It is important to us that we feel good about the projects we accept and take on and likewise, we want our clients to feel confident and comfortable with us. Like so many people, our work-life balance is another lesson we’ve encountered along the way because our families are of utmost importance. In the beginning stages of Pure Indigo, we were working out of our homes but later transitioned to an office space in Midtown Fort Collins.
The separation of work and home life has helped us keep a balance that works for our business and our families. The last lesson we will mention is centered around trust in our team. We have learned that hiring people who are team-oriented and blend well with the rest of the team is very important, even over hiring for specific skills because we know that skills can be honed. We have been very blessed with hiring amazing people!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a full-service residential design firm for whole rooms to whole homes -we love working on a variety of projects! We focus on both fixed-finish projects and furniture projects. For our fixed-finish projects, we put together detailed floor plans and elevations for the builder. We also create a unique design for our client’s homes that includes everything from custom cabinets, countertops, flooring, paint, lighting, plumbing, etc…. the list is long.
For our furniture projects, we put together furniture layouts for our clients to consider and select. We then design and present selections of all the upholstery pieces, case goods, lamps, accessories, artwork, and window treatments. This portion of a project is what defines our client’s style and character of their home. We are known for our unique yet simple designs that incorporate natural elements and materials to keep the spaces feeling fresh and cozy.
What makes us proud every day is our amazing team! Walking into our office and seeing our cheerful team makes us so happy. It is such a wonderful thing to feel good about the people who work with us. Also, completed projects bring us a lot of satisfaction and joy. So much time and effort goes into projects, and seeing the result is always really rewarding. When we get to the final reveal, and our clients feel positive and rave about how easy and seamless the process has been, as well as how a fresh and new space has impacted their home life in many good ways, we could not be happier!
Something that sets us apart from others in the industry and our ability to take the project off of our clients’ plates and let them sit back and enjoy the process while we take over all the details and hassles that can happen during a project. We love to provide a high level of service to our clients! We also like to make sure we are working hard to get all the details and information to our builders, contractors, and subs so that the construction process is seamless.
