Check Out Monica Montes’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Montes.

Hi Monica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story starts in 2005. I was an unlikely CEO being that I was a single teen mom with no college degree, I started in graphic design but I couldn’t afford to pay my college tuition so I dropped out and went to school to be a barber so I could pay the bills. I was thinking about graphic design every day but had no idea how to freelance. For years I played scenarios out in my mind on how I could go back to school and afford it. I was never successful in finding a way. So I decided years down the road to use my skills and start helping friends and family. Landing my first marketing job for my mother who owned a preschool. I ran her marketing and graphic design and website for four years and with that experience, I moved to Denver hospitals where I was part of a leadership team and gained so much knowledge on how to run a business. Later to land a Marketing Manager position for an interior designer and that’s where Her Branding Bestie was born. I have been able to help hundreds of women entrepreneurs grow and scale their businesses by creating content that converts such as Web Design, Graphic Design, Photography, Social Media management, and Marketing. We have a crew of four and plan to be adding more very quickly. We are officially a Brand Agency, and we also host networking events and classes to teach women how to maximize their branding because my motto is to talk about your business because no one else will! I have added a podcast to my lineup to help women get through the loneliness of running a business.

But I have broken through the glass ceiling with hard work and dedication.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has not been easy I had so many obstacles in my way. From being a teen mom and I had to pay bills and care for a child and not just myself. I had no college degree so I would get denied for so many job positions or pay increases.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Business, Artist, Marketing, Social Media Management, Photography, Agency, Webdesign, graphic design

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I used to write small tales about a girl named Penny who collected pennies; she was an entrepreneur collecting pennies by doing small jobs around her community. My dad let me use his drawing table and paper supplies that he used to draw solar trains. He would staple my books and read them and smile.
