Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Vitanov.
Hi Sam, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up around construction and hands on work, so building things and figuring out how they work has always felt natural to me. From a young age, I was exposed to job sites, tools, and the reality of what it takes to run a business. Not just the physical labor, but the planning, problem solving, and responsibility behind it.
As I got older, I became more involved and eventually helped CO-Found Abricos LLC, a family owned general contracting company in Colorado. What started as smaller jobs and learning the ropes turned into a licensed and insured operation handling a wide range of residential projects. Being part of a family business taught me quickly that you do not just wear one hat. You are the worker, the manager, the communicator, and the decision maker all at once.
At the same time, I decided to pursue a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on entrepreneurship. Going to school while running a business gave me a much deeper understanding of how real world experience and education complement each other. I could immediately apply what I was learning in finance, management, and legal structure directly to our operations, which helped the business grow more intentionally and sustainably.
Today, I am focused on continuing to expand Abricos LLC while sharpening my skills both in the field and in the classroom. My goal is to keep building something long term, whether that is through construction, project management, or future ventures, while staying grounded in hard work, accountability, and constant learning.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Like most things worth building, it came with a lot of challenges and learning moments along the way.
One of the biggest struggles was balancing growth with responsibility. Running a business means making decisions that affect not just yourself, but your family, clients, and reputation. Learning how to price jobs correctly, manage time, handle unexpected issues on site, and communicate clearly with customers all came with trial and error.
Another challenge was doing everything at once. Especially in the early stages, there were times when I was working in the field all day and then handling paperwork, permits, scheduling, and finances late at night. It was exhausting, but it forced me to become disciplined and organized very quickly.
There were also setbacks that came from things outside of our control, such as delays, weather, supply issues, and changing regulations. Those moments taught me patience and adaptability, and how important it is to stay calm and solution focused when things do not go as planned.
Overall, the struggles were frustrating at times, but they shaped how I work and think today. Each challenge pushed me to become more prepared, more resilient, and more intentional about how I approach both business and life.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My creative work is rooted in building, problem solving, and hands on design. I approach creativity through construction and entrepreneurship, where every project is a balance of function, aesthetics, and execution. Whether it is planning a layout, figuring out how materials come together, or turning an idea into something real and lasting, my work is about creating solutions that people can actually use and live with.
I specialize in practical creativity. I am known for taking ideas and making them real in a way that is efficient, durable, and thoughtful. A lot of my creativity shows up in how I adapt to challenges on the fly, customize solutions for each project, and find better ways to do things instead of defaulting to standard or cookie cutter approaches.
What I am most proud of is the fact that my work leaves a tangible impact. At the end of a project, there is something physical that did not exist before, and it improves someone’s space or daily life. That sense of ownership and responsibility over the final result is something I take seriously.
What sets me apart is that I blend creativity with discipline. I am not just focused on how something looks, but how it functions long term and how it fits into a bigger picture. My creative process is grounded in real world experience, consistency, and accountability, which allows me to deliver work that is both thoughtful and reliable.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is family. Everything I do starts there and is built around supporting, protecting, and showing up for the people closest to me.
Family comes first because it is my foundation. It is where I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and accountability, and it is the reason I push myself to build something stable and lasting. Knowing that my effort directly impacts the people I care about most gives my work real purpose.
After family, integrity and accountability matter deeply to me. Doing what you say you will do, standing behind your work, and owning your decisions builds trust over time. That trust is what allows relationships, businesses, and opportunities to grow in a meaningful way.
Growth also matters to me. I believe in constantly learning and improving, not just for myself, but so I can be better for my family and the people who rely on me. At the end of the day, success means very little if it is not grounded in family, honesty, and purpose.
