Today we’d like to introduce you to Samuel Czvitkovits.
Hi Samuel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Fortem Media began as a simple idea with myself and Chad Cohen wanting to connect with brands and individuals who didn’t settle for the ordinary. We wanted to help tell stories about brands and individuals wanting to drive change and create impact with their business, and at that time, we decided to start Fortem Media. We first entered the Creative Space in the real estate industry in Sydney, Australia, where we quickly began to become well known for our video innovation and unique approach to property marketing and from there, we began to expand into the Fitness, Lifestyle and Hospitality industries. Fast forward 14 months, we expanded into the US and brought on local Creative Director Nico Brunetti to assist in opening an office in Denver, where we continued our mission. Now we have a team of 11 extremely talented people across both the United States and Australia and we couldn’t be more proud about where we are now. We’ve always had the idea that if you connect culture with creativity, you will win, hense our catch phrase ‘WHERE CULTURE AND CREATIVITY MEET.’
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been smooth sailing, especially with the COVID 19 pandemic arriving weeks after we opened our office in Denver. It was tough, we had no money coming in, we didn’t know anyone, and we where in lockdown and there were times where Chad and I got on a zoom call and honestly said that we don’t think we can do this here just yet. The 60 hour work weeks became 90 and we picked up some traction in the real estate industry and we’re fortunate enough to now be working with some of Colorado’s top producers, which has lead to an incredible network which has springboard us to a position we never thought we would be in ten months into the business. Another thing that we’ve struggled with is we’re all very young. The average age in our agency is 24, and a lot of people seem to think that we don’t have enough experience but I think that couldn’t be further from the truth. Times are changing, marketing is changing, people can see through all the fake things we see every single day on Social Media and we get that, and we know what people want to see and what it takes to grow a personal brand or bring a product to market through Creative Content. Our generation gets Social Media, and I think while Social Media can be a nasty medium, the opportunities are endless and the amount of eyes those platforms get every single day is invaluable.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Ever since a young age, I have always been extremely curious about basically everything, my friends often call me ‘google’ because I always have an answer for everything haha and in 2016 after a trip to South Africa, I picked up a Go Pro and realized that I love to make create videos, so I started doing it for fun with my friends and about a year later brands started to approach me on Instagram and offered to actually pay me to make a video for them, so of course I said yes, and this ended up becoming more and more frequent and then I really thought wow, “I could make a career with this’.
From that, I formed a deep desire to think about strategies to help tell brand stories and what it took to give a brand the best chance for success. So my skill set would be; – Content Creation (Video + Photo) – Brand Strategising – Marketing I am also very passionate about what I do and I’ve been told by a lot of people that that’s why they decided to hire Fortem Media because they saw that I shared the same passion that they did about their brand. I also come a small town just outside of Canberra, Aus and its somewhat of a town that keeps people there. If you grow up there, you end up staying there and either do a trade or take over the family business etc. I always knew there was more out there, my mum and Dad, who I can’t thank enough for this would always tell me that there’s so much more beyond Yass (the town), and that there is a whole world and you can do anything. So my goal is to build Fortem Media and get an office in New York and go back to my high school and primary school and tell the kids my story there, that they too can do this. That’s what keeps me going everyday. I want to be able to inspire the young kids in the town I grew up to chase what makes them come alive.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I definitely would like to talk about how I want to inspire young kids from my hometown to chase their dreams.
