Hi Anna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Anna and I’m so excited to share my Professional Organizing business, UnClutterCO. Right before Covid hit I was laid off from my full-time job. I had been thinking about starting my own business for a long time and decided while I was sending out resumes and interviewing for jobs I could also put some energy into what working for myself could really look like. I built a website, Facebook and Instagram page and announced to the world that I was doing a thing. I was both shocked and delighted when I was hired almost immediately and I haven’t looked back.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a business is totally exciting and very scary, especially when you decide to pull the trigger during a global pandemic. There are so many unknowns and while the highs are high, the lows are low. When there have been lulls in my client load, I’ll have a thought, “that’s it, that was my last one. I’ll never get another client.” And then I do. As an entrepreneur, I am the owner, head of sales and marketing, the social media manager, website creator, and so much more. You take on a lot and get to celebrate all the wins but also struggle through the failures. Has it been a smooth road? No! But it’s a bumpy road with the prettiest scenery.

UnClutterCO is a professional organizing business. I help busy women and families reclaim time so they can focus their energy on what matters most. UnClutterCO’s mission is to help simplify your life by creating functional, beautifully organized spaces in your home. This year has introduced all of us to a slew of new challenges like virtual learning, working from home and using our kitchens more than ever before. Day to day life is overwhelming without a pandemic! Whether you need help making sense of a master closet or a tiny kitchen, I will help you sort through your items, strategize and shop for the space. My business aims to save you time and money through organizational systems so you can spend less time looking for things and more time living your life.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
In this line of work, compassion is essential. People are allowing me into their homes and sharing the intimacy of their most private spaces. Sometimes, there are sentimental attachments; letting go does not come naturally to all of us. I take pride in this work being both strategic and creative. Creating impact in peoples’ daily lives is incredibly rewarding.
