Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Cook.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was exposed to events at a young age, as I would help my aunts with their catering business in my hometown in Ohio. I found myself in the hospitality industry for many years before getting drawn back to my roots. I figured out where I fit in with events by jumping into venue management, catering [again] and a non-profit event coordinator. I struck gold. I found what lights my heart on fire. A cause for celebration, a timeline and watching all the magic come together. I would entertain my family with elaborate plays I wrote, then directed with my cousins as the actors as a child. Event planning is similar to orchestrating a large production and seeing each line unfold. I was quickly introduced to the most fantastic wedding planner Ann Marlin, who became my planning Yoda. Fast forward to 2019 and I have presented the opportunity to take over Cloud 9 as the new owner. As the third owner, I have the honor to carry on it’s legacy and Ann continues to be my business mentor. I love what I do, the people I get to meet, and the stories I get to tell. Did I mention we have the best kick-ass team?!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy. The pandemic started only months into my new role as a business owner. There was a lot of fear and uncertainty that, over time would mold into confidence and strength. I created a pump-up playlist on Spotify and I’m pretty sure I listened to Kelly Clarkson daily through 2020 [and 2021]… “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger; stand a little taller” One factor that pushes me the most is that I want to set the example for my two young girls to be strong, confident women chasing their dreams.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I met my husband at a music festival 17 years ago, surrounded by thousands of our closest friends.
