Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira Golub.
Hi Kira, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been involved in animal rescue since I was 11 years old, and that early experience really set the course for my life. When I was 15, a mentor I deeply admired told me something that’s stuck with me ever since: “We can never out-rescue bad breeding.” That one sentence changed how I saw animal welfare — it made me realize that real, lasting change has to happen at the systems level.
That insight inspired me to get involved in local government as a teenager, where I had the chance to work alongside some incredible nonprofits that opened my eyes to what effective advocacy and strategy can accomplish. From there, I built a career in nonprofit leadership and fundraising, managing teams across the country and helping mission-driven organizations strengthen their operations and expand their impact.
Eventually, I realized my favorite part of every role was helping organizations find clarity — simplifying the complicated parts of fundraising and building systems that let their missions thrive. That’s what led me to create Maze Point Consulting. Today, I help nonprofits grow in sustainable, strategic ways so they can focus on what really matters: changing lives, both human and animal.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I started working with nonprofits when I was still a teenager, and for a long time, my biggest challenge was simply being taken seriously. I had strong ideas and a lot of passion, but my age often meant my experience and perspective were overlooked.
Instead of letting that discourage me, it pushed me to get creative about how I communicated and built trust. I learned to approach challenges differently, to listen deeply, and to earn respect through consistency and results. Those early experiences shaped how I lead and collaborate today — they taught me that every voice has value, and you never know where the next great idea or perspective might come from.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Maze Point Consulting was born from the belief that passion alone isn’t enough to sustain a cause — you need strategy, systems, and sustainability to make a lasting impact. I work with nonprofits to strengthen their fundraising, operations, and long-term strategy so they can move from surviving to truly thriving.
The name Maze Point has a deeply personal meaning. It’s a way to honor my dog, Maze, who’s been with me through so many pivotal moments in my life and career. But it also represents the journey nonprofits often face — the feeling of being stuck in a maze of competing priorities, limited resources, and big dreams. My role is to help them find their point of clarity — the place where everything starts to make sense and forward momentum becomes possible.
What sets Maze Point apart is the personalized, collaborative approach. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter consulting. Every organization has its own heartbeat and challenges, and I take the time to understand what’s really happening behind the scenes — from fundraising systems to board engagement — to design strategies that actually fit.
I’m most proud that my clients walk away not just with stronger systems, but with confidence. The goal isn’t dependency; it’s empowerment. I want every organization I work with to have the tools, knowledge, and clarity to carry their work forward long after our partnership ends.
At its core, Maze Point exists to guide organizations doing meaningful work from complexity to clarity — helping them find direction, stability, and the confidence to keep changing lives.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I think collaboration starts with curiosity and shared purpose. I love working with people and organizations who care deeply about what they do and want to find more sustainable, strategic ways to keep doing it. Sometimes that looks like a consulting project, and sometimes it’s just a conversation that sparks new ideas or partnerships.
More than anything, I want people to know that my door is always open — for brainstorming, connection, or community. Every meaningful change I’ve been part of has started that way: with a simple conversation and a shared desire to make things better.
