Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Freed.
Hi Sabrina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
After 25 years in the corporate world, I was feeling like a square peg in a round hole; it just wasn’t the right fit anymore. After much thought and deliberation, I took a leap of faith and decided to work with a life coach to really help me find my true passion. Things were complicated. I knew in my heart I wanted to remain in the Bay area, and finding my passion as well as a business that could sustain me financially and in my happy place was going to be challenging. But then, something amazing happened!
I made an offhand remark to a client about creating a puppy kissing booth for an event, and suddenly my creative juices started flowing. I knew I had found my calling – combining my love of dogs with my entrepreneurial and event skills to create something unique. And so, at the age of 50, I reinvented myself and created Puppy Love – providing corporate health and wellness experiences to corporations with rescue puppies. It’s been an incredible journey so far, and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to live and grow my dream.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Puppy Love was one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done, but it was no walk in the park – especially the first few years! I was very much wandering through uncharted territory with no map, no compass, and no real sense of direction. Since “puppy therapy” – a way of providing health and wellness in the workplace or convention setting – had not yet been developed, there were no models to follow or mentors to consult. I had to create it all from scratch – being creative, resourceful, and really thinking outside the box.
And there were definitely challenges – finding and vetting rescue partners, how best to market and clearly convey Puppy Love’s benefits, logistics, etc. Needless to say, I forged ahead – making mistakes as well as enjoying successes.
And learning from both. Today, I can sincerely say it was well worth every moment of insecurity and uncertainty. Seeing the tails wag and the smiles on people’s faces as they experience Puppy Love makes all the obstacles and challenges fade into the background. Starting Puppy Love has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. My biggest lesson learned? The greatest rewards come from taking risks and stepping outside of your comfort zone!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Puppy Love™ was founded by Sabrina Freed, who has established the company as the premier, unique corporate wellness function by providing the ultimate puppy experience.
Puppy Love™ offers a corporate puppy therapy experience for companies looking to improve their staff well-being, combat stress and encourage team bonding. Our personalized events are executed in the most creative of ways, guaranteed to leave employees feeling refreshed, refocused, and re-energized, ready to return and execute their best work.
A Puppy Love experience does more than just allow your employees to come and socialize with beautiful puppies. While that makes pretty much any day a winner, there is a far more serious impact that the pups can have. It is proven that interacting with animals has a positive effect on mental healthier in humans. Spending time sharing some fun or just quiet time with a pet or a group of gorgeous puppies is known to help in dealing with anxiety and reducing stress levels.
We bring the puppies and set up to your office, event location, or conference/expo and leave you with happy, productive employees while also giving 20% of all proceeds back to a local rescue partner to help save more animals in need.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Believe it or not, as a young girl I was terrified of dogs – always crossing the street to avoid passing one. If I was invited to a friend’s house and they had a dog, forget about it!
I would use every excuse in the book to avoid going. Despite my fears, however, I still had a deep love of animals and I knew I wanted to develop the courage to have my own pets. Dogs are amazingly patient and loving creatures. Over time – and with tremendous determination – I conquered my fear and now have two precious pups and a business that shares puppy joy with the working world!
Life is funny. Sometimes the things we most fear can end up becoming the thing we’re most passionate about. We are capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit. Now, as I watch puppies and people connect and play at my events, I can’t help but laugh at the irony of it all: The dog-phobic little
