Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gregor.
Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Of course!
My husband and I moved here from Southern California about 9 years ago and decided to start a family of our own. I have always had a growing desire to own my own company but was never really sure when to start. When I was expecting our first little and working another full-time job seemed like a good time. 5 years later, our team has the honor of serving our clients with their wedding day coordination, planning, and floral designs. It’s one of the best decisions I have ever made.
The real reason I decided to start a wedding planning company is actually our wedding story. We were married in Southern California before Pinterest and Airbnb were a thing. High school sweethearts with not a clue how to plan a wedding, we had a Day of Coordinator that was “included” with our venue space. While they did an amazing job at sending everyone down the aisle to the right song, as soon as the ceremony was over, they were gone.
Everything that we had “planned to do” was forgotten or undone. There was no one assigned to “do the things”.
While I absolutely loved our day, a passion was birthed to serve couples so they can enjoy and be present with their people AND be sure the tasks are done.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Although we have the internet at our fingertips, there is no bullet point document to prepare you for what starting and navigating a small service-based business is like. It’s a wild ride let me let you. Granite, I would not trade it for the world, but it is beautiful and hard. I would not be where I am today without the incredible support from my husband, incredible team, and others who have championed me along the way.
Our company launch party was the week of the Colorado Springs Covid-19 lockdown, so long story short, it was canceled. I remember I had already picked up hundreds of dollars worth of flowers when I got the call that we could not do the styled shoot. It was me and 2 friends who just put the flowers together and dropped them at the steps of friends and other business owners. An unexpectedly sweet and chaotic start and we have just kept moving forward.
Each year brings new challenges alongside wins. We are still navigating the post-pandemic and inconsistent booking patterns. However, we are beyond excited to have the opportunity to work with some of the best clients and wedding vendors our city has to offer.
Our season keeps picking up, and it’s hard to say no to a potential client when we’re fully booked. Our main goal this next year is to continue to grow and strengthen our team to serve more clients with their wedding planning and floral design team.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Planning Co.?
The Planning Co. is a wedding and event planning company specializing in Day of Coordination, planning, and floral design. We have multiple packages to meet our clients with their event needs. Our incredible team of planners thrives in serving our clients with attention to the details, so they can create memories and be present for their day. Though we offer both planning and floral design services and do not require you to use both.
Though some people dream of planning their wedding since they are young, it can also be a little overwhelming and a lot to add to your full-time job, and well life in general. This is what we do every day, and we love it. I would say one of my personal favorite services that we offer is actually what I wish I had on my wedding day; is an overly detailed timeline with a trained planner to execute it.
It’s a big day, and there are a lot of moving parts and tons of vendors to communicate with. Our team steps in to be sure everything is moving guests and family are able to be present with one another.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
Well, that’s a hard question. I would say one of my favorite childhood memories is playing hide and seek with my friends on the ranch. Most of them were from the city, and it’s just a different game when you have land to roam, cars and horses to hide behind, and the moon as bright as a flashlight. They were some epic nights with my siblings and friends.
That or when I was teaching my now husband to ride a horse and he wanted to raise thinking he was big stuff. I watch his saddle slide right off in slow motion with his elbows flapping to the wind as he hit the ground. I obviously kept going to win the race. We still laugh about it to this day.
