Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlee Lampshire.
Ashlee, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have worked in the decorative arts for over 20 years, and as an interior designer for 15. As an intrinsically motivated self-starter, I quickly realized that I needed to participate in small-business ownership. I have been able to utilize my passions for interior design, crafting, vintage furniture, and the arts to keep Denver Chair Lady relevant and current in an ever-evolving industry. I stay driven and focused while navigating the adventurous path of small-business ownership. Denver Chair Lady.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting a small business was not a smooth road, life does not stop because you decide to start a business. When I started Denver Chair Lady, I worked full time as a designer and I was pregnant. In addition, I was in the process of buying a house and had a husband in college. I also had very little experience and even less capital. My best advice when starting a business would be to persevere and work hard. It is also very important to utilize your connections and professional network to the fullest extent. Do not hesitate to make connections within your field and use your networking skills to enhance and improve your presence. You will get noticed!
What should we know about Denver Chair Lady? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in interior design based upholstery services. That means we help you pick a fabric that is perfect for your lifestyle and current interiors. We are experts in vintage and antique furniture restoration.
When I worked as a designer, we would often suggest replacing everything in the space. I was concerned with how wasteful and careless that was. We strive to be a green upholstery service that reuses and recycles products whenever possible.
I collected vintage clothing and furniture, and already knew a lot about the upholstery process. I’m an expert on furniture design and history, so it was a natural transition into design driven upholstery services. Being a design-driven upholsterer definitely sets us apart from others in the industry.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
Pinterest and Instagram are always inspirational.
