Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandi Marie.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been a music manager for years now by managing by a brother, hip hop artist DC Baby. It was actually during a time we were shooting a movie with PTAP Productions that I was able to meet the lovely, Chanel Butler. She gave me an opportunity to perform and walk in her upcoming event. By way of that event, I was able to meet the amazing Josiah Gee and was introduced to NeckJuice by J_Geee. He gave the opportunity to walk in a couple of his events, and at the end of each event, he allows the models to keep their necktie. I just started incorporating his designs in my photo shoots, and we clicked from there. He then offered an opportunity to apart of shoot for DenVhere Magazine, as part of the ” “Urban Wonderland•Visionary Gee Siah Neckjuice by J_geee, along with Photographer Steve King, MUA Nikki Palmer.
Fortunately, the shoot was published and I was just so proud and honored to involved in such a beautiful vision. Since becoming a Brand Ambassador for NeckJuice by J_Geee, we have had wonderful opportunities to work with photographers and stylists, including our Spring Photoshoot with Jaymie Alexander. I have also been able to more exposure and performances for DC Baby, I am really about his new single “G.O.A.T.”, it is really getting a great response, which is very exciting! I would not be where I am today if I did not meet the wonder that I have met in Denver. These gracious souls deserve all the praise!! I expect these next 6 months, I look forward to amazing breakthroughs in all avenues I am in, as well the official release of my web show “The Set Up.”, and performing for #NeckJuice by J_Geee in the RAW artist showcase in August. I’m forever grateful for the blessing I continue to receive, God is so amazing!!! KEEP YA EYES ON ME!!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having comes easy. While I may have been growing in the industry, I was hurting on the inside. I have learned to take the time I need to focus on myself and keeping my mental, and spiritual wellness a main priority. For every obstacle I face, I continue to push through the struggle and pray for better days. For every “no”, there will an abundance of “yes.” Manifest what you want your mind, and you have your dreams, Pray, yoga, meditate, drink plenty of water, cocoa butter, and mind the business that pays you, baby!
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I wear a couple of hats in this lovely industry! I am currently a Brand Ambassador for NeckJuice by J_Geee, where we promote self-love, individuality, fashion, of course. I am most of being published in “DenVhere Magazine” as part of the NeckJuice vision. As a manager, my most proud moment is definitely the fact that I have been able to book shows and events for DC Baby, including opening for major Music artists, including Jacquees, Yella Beezy, Gillie the Kid, etc. What sets me apart from others is my heart and my drive to be great. I am such a genuine and real person and I think that’s my people love me, I’m all about positive vibes and being around those inspire and encourage me.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
Generally speaking, I feel that some of the biggest barriers to female leadership are convincing one that we can do the same job just as well, if not better than a man. I also feel a barrier is women being willing to fully support other women. Do not frown at their success, scream and shout for them! Love them for breaking that barrier, proving them wrong. I am an advocate for plus size models, we have the barriers of being accepted as beautiful to other models and other designers. Self-love truly sets the tone.
