Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Seifert.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my photography business in 2015, in my hometown Naples, Florida. Early on, I focused primarily on portrait work, photographing close friends and coordinating styled shoots. It wasn’t too long after that I discovered my love for working with couples! After returning home from my first photography workshop in 2017, I decided to shift my focus from portrait work to couples photography and engagements. There was nothing more inspiring to me than photographing the love shared between two people and developing relationships that would eventually lead to me booking local weddings. Having lived in Naples my entire life, I started to feel the urge to relocate my business in January of 2018, which eventually led to me moving to Denver six months later! Since moving to Denver, I have combined my love for working with couples and individuals. I am incredibly eager for what 2020 will bring as I plan to expand my brand by working with local businesses to develop content for their social media platforms. Building my photography business has been nothing short of an exciting journey, and I am so blessed by the friendships I have formed since moving to Colorado that have progressed my business in such a short period of time!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Building a photography business definitely comes with its fair share of challenges mentally and emotionally. Starting out, I genuinely battled with comparing my work to other photographers and let’s be honest, I still do sometimes. I constantly would critique my images and struggle to understand what it was that I was lacking as a creative that kept me from producing work that I could feel proud of. My advice to any young women looking to start their photography business would be to never stop shooting. Keep pushing yourself and understand that it takes time to develop your style and brand. It is important to prioritize shoots that inspire you, as those will motivate you to persevere through discouraging seasons of your career.
What should we know about Christina Seifert Photography? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Photographing individuals and couples has always been my passion and what I’m known for. Over the years, I have worked hard to create an experience that allows my clients to feel comfortable with expressing genuine emotion in front of the lens. I have always believed in the importance of building strong relationships with my clients, and I consider myself fortunate to have built a business with a strong referral base. Without the friendships I have formed, I wouldn’t be where I am today!
Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
To those young women who are just starting their career, my advice would be to build relationships with other photographers and local vendors (florists, make-up artists, illustrators, wedding planners, etc.), as those friendships are essential in building a successful business. You will be forever grateful for the support, encouragement, and connections you gain from your community as you navigate through your journey in becoming a professional photographer.
