Conversations with the Inspiring Erica Stokesberry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Stokesberry.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Erica. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I worked for a job for eight years that I was so unhappy at. I had a couple of bosses over the years that would lead to me feeling so dissatisfied at my job. I remember sitting in my routine traffic driving home for an hour and a half one day thinking, “There HAS to be more to life than this, I’m literally building someone else’s dream”. I would come home every day crying because I was just so unhappy. Something inside of me clicked, it was like a light bulb turned on and I started to change the way I was thinking because I knew I had the drive in me to pave my own path in life.

In my spare time, I would work on sculpting miniature things with polymer clay and it gave me such an accomplishing feeling when someone would see my art and expressed how much they loved it. In 2014, I decided to turn this hobby into a business and sell my miniature art sculptures online. I started getting busy with this and put my two week’s notice into my job. They convinced me to stay till the end of 2015 so they could replace me. On Jan 1, 2016, I was fully self-employed!

In 2016, my husband and I decided to make a life change and move to Colorado from California. Along with this life change, I also decided to change the direction of my business and also changed the name to S’Berry Boutique, LLC. S’Berry Boutique, LLC is an online store that focuses on the special moments in people’s lives, specifically pregnancy, and wedding announcements. I have always enjoyed thinking of the creative ways to announce to your family and loved ones that your family is expanding, whether you are getting married, or you are expecting. I love that I can be apart of my customer’s life-changing moments and I hope to continue that over the years.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am really blessed to have a husband that always supports me in anything I do. With other people in my life, it has not always been a smooth road for me. In the beginning, along with deciding to work for myself came a lot of negative comments from people I love. It was really hurtful. I believe we are programmed early on in life that you have to work for someone else to make a living. And while this is true to an extent, I think it’s also important to believe in yourself and work hard for what you want out of life. My advice for other women would be if you have a dream or something you want to accomplish in your life, do it. Don’t let anyone hold you back. There will always be negativity along the way, always keep that vision ahead of you and keep moving forward.

There is and always will be challenging days, but I use the negative comments I received, in the beginning, to motivate me to keep pushing forward.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into S’Berry Boutique, LLC story. Tell us more about it.
It’s the important moments in life that count, so I have built my business around those special times. Being a part of my customer’s big moments in life is a great feeling!

What I feel sets me and my business apart is the journey I have been on to get to this point. I pour my heart and soul into my business, so with each customer that contacts me, I do my absolute best to give them the best customer service because, without them, I wouldn’t have S’Berry Boutique, LLC.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
To control the spirit of my day, I love to listen to motivational speakers and life coaches. A couple of my favorites are Tony Robbins and Les Brown. These two are my favorite because I feel the most emotions from their words. Someone that can move you with their words to want to make a difference or a change, has an amazing gift!
