Today we’d like to introduce you to Justine Hernandez.
Justine, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
How I got started on doing makeup. I always loved the look for makeup and how women hold her self in the world while wearing makeup. I had got added to make up group on Facebook. Beastin beautys a few years back. I introduce my self as cheeto.. I posted pictures of make up looks that i would do .. And started entering in makeup challenges to win high end makeup. The ladies in that group helped me… Motivated me. Keep pushing me with all that empower I had I kept going. I gave myself many black eyes over and over not to mention blending the color off because I was blending too much lol… but I still stuck with it and didn’t give up. I learned so much from beastin beautys and watching makeup videos. I knew I wanted something to call my own. So I started my own makeup/weed group and started empowering women to be that best that you can be.
Don’t let anyone or thing stop you from what or where you want to be. I always told the girls in my group when things get hard and I want to give up. Stop and say when in doubt smoke it out n start over again until you got it. After my group was going good, I got an opportunity to be a partner in a beauty business. That went well for a while. Until my partner decided to take it all from me when things weren’t going her way. That crushed me. But I didn’t let it break me. I listened to my own advice and smoked it out and sat with my wife n felt like giving up, but she would not let me. My wife grabbed my face and said to me baby. You’re the biggest hustler that I know. You stack your cash baby and I start from scratch again. I looked into her eyes and said ok I’ll start over again. And that’s were mile-high beauty came into play. I stared it with four different styles of lashes. Four different styles of earrings and makeup bags. Mile high beauty is still up and going as of today. I get tagged in all the look with the girls that have bought my product’s all the time. I love what I do. And what I bring to the table on the beauty world n everything I have been threw makes me stronger. When I am in doubt, I smoke it out.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road other than my old business partner trying to knock me down and take it all from me. My message to other women would be. Ladies, we are all so talented in our own ways. There’s no need for hatefulness or putting each other down. We should all be uplifted each other. Encouraging each other. Don’t give up on what you really want or your dearms. Set your mind on it and get it baby girl. Because it ain’t going to get itself.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Wen it comes to my artwork. I am very bold with my looks. I love bold, bright colors. I love to work with glitters… Color… lashes… I don’t do foundation and I don’t work with any paint products what so ever. I love to do cut crease looks. I also love to do looks that are more on the creative side using different props and stuff.
Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
Well I would say in the make up world there a makeup artist online her name is candylover89. She inspires me with the bomb looks she does and how she holds her self as a woman. I also look up to my wife. . she inspires me so much to be a better artist, a better woman and a wife. My wife Chanel is my biggest supporter and fan. My baby always has my back. There’s one more person. That is my Auntie Pam. She is a business owner of a small business here in Colorado, daddy danks. My auntie is a real one. She will always give the best advice as she can for my business and helps me be a better woman and she ain’t afraid to tell if she don’t like a look of mine lol. I would like to give a shout out to my makeup/weed group top’notch crew .. Thank u to all the girls in my group . how has inspired me to be a better makeup artist and admin..
