Today we’d like to introduce you to Kandace Russell.
Kandace, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m adopted, my whole life has been working past that. But now, I know I’m very loved. I found passion in art, playing volleyball, and writing. My whole life I’ve lived off of some simple words, my family’s motto “que sera sera”, it means “what goes, goes.” It’s helped me let go of a lot of things in my past
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some struggles I’ve found were fitting in and worrying about being judged, but when you surround yourself with people that love and support you, you won’t have to worry about being judged. A good thing to do is count your small successes, everyone has to start somewhere and even small successes outweigh the turmoils
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I work with a small invertebrate zoo here in Colorado. I help kids learn and better understand the environment around them.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
So many women are speaking out on big issues and using social media as a platform. I think that’s a good thing because so many people these days are on social media and they will be heard. Women should be banding together to lift each other up and help each other out
