Today we’d like to introduce you to Kiersten Stoveken.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Kiersten. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born and raised in Redondo Beach, CA (Los Angeles Area), my Mom Beverly owned and operated a successful women’s clothing and accessories store for 20+ years. That is where I gained the hands-on experience of buying, merchandising and managing in retail.
When moving to Vail almost eight years ago, I immediately noticed the need for cute, yet affordable clothing for locals to shop at without having to drive 30+ minutes out of town. I knew at that moment that the Vail Valley would be the perfect place for my store.
When opening Wild Heart in March of 2017, my focus was to bring cute, trendy, yet affordable, high-quality women’s clothing and accessories to the Vail Valley. At Wild Heart, we offer a variety of trendy and affordable everyday clothing and accessories for women of all ages. My goal was to have a grandmother walk into the store with her daughter and granddaughter and they are all able to find something.
At Wild Heart, we receive new shipments weekly and have daily fresh new styles at an affordable price point (and we’re serious, it’s affordable!). We receive a limited quantity of each style and once it’s gone, it’s gone, as inventory is constantly changing so that there’s always something new and fresh when walking into the store. When shopping at Wild Heart, we strive to create a fun atmosphere where locals and tourists alike can find unique and trendy pieces without breaking the bank.
We have a Facebook and Instagram account @wildheartcolorado in which we post new updates and styles every day. Be sure to follow along!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is nothing scarier and more intimidating than starting your own business but with passion, hard work and most of all experience, you can do whatever you set your mind to! Always be sure to keep your business plan authentic and aligned with your goals and aspirations. You started this business for a reason and know best what will work. Take advantage of all the resources you have available to you. We are all in this together!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Wild Heart story. Tell us more about the business.
My biggest focus at Wild Heart is to keep styles on-trend and at an affordable price point. We strive is to keep styles under $50 while keeping quality a priority. We receive new shipments weekly with a limited quantity of each style and once it’s gone, it’s gone. Inventory is constantly changing so that there’s always something new and fresh when walking into the store. Living in a small town, we don’t want to show up to an event all wearing the same thing. When shopping at Wild Heart, we strive to create a fun atmosphere where locals and tourists alike can find unique and trendy pieces without breaking the bank.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
Social media continues to have a major positive impact on my business. Our social media platforms are always up to date showing the newest trends and arrivals. The goal is to keep both local and out of town customers constantly engaged. Keep a posting schedule and stick to it.
