Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghin Kiernan.
Meghin, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
From the age of five, I dreamed of one day becoming a veterinarian. That dream became a reality when I was accepted into veterinary school back in 2015. I am now a third-year veterinary student and will graduate in May of 2020. I am so close to accomplishing my life-long dream, and I can’t wait to make a positive impact in my community on a daily basis!
While I love being a veterinary student, I found I needed a creative outlet. After planning my wedding, I started my blog: Muse by Meghin Rose. This has allowed me to share my interests and express myself in a world outside of medicine. Here, I showcase my love of travel, overdressing, home decor, and cooking. With so much negativity in the world, I believe social media can be a positive outlet. For me, it has helped redefine who I am as a growing young professional.
Most importantly, I am a proud Colorado native. I love the people and the animals of this state, and I enjoy exploring Denver and our beautiful Rocky Mountains with my husband, dog, family, and friends.
Has it been a smooth road?
Life isn’t easy. That’s a fact. I’ve had many ups and downs which led me to where I am today. While it might be hard to hear, during those low moments, I truly believe everything happens for a reason. This has gotten me through my darkest days and my toughest challenges. Reflecting back, my character and integrity have grown the most through those challenging times. I always tell myself, there is a plan -this is happening for a reason- you will be a better person for this.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Muse by Meghin Rose story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m new to the blogging world, but I want to use social media to celebrate my life’s inspirations. I’m a self-professed foodie, overdresser, novice interior designer, and traveler. I’m a Colorado native, who loves to explore all the most colorful state has to offer while dreaming of the adventures beyond its borders. Despite my many interests, I’m a perpetual student in my third year of veterinary school at Colorado State University. I believe this gives me a unique perspective on balancing life as a 25-year-old. I will admit, I don’t have it all together or figured out. That’s what makes life exciting! My goal is to make an impact on my community by spreading positivity, compassion, and highlighting the things that bring me the most joy.
What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
Growing up, I believed I could do anything or be anything I wanted to be. Truly, this mentality allowed me to accomplish my dreams because I never viewed life’s challenges as barriers- they were simply things I had to overcome to get to the next step.
Overall, I think I am lucky to live in a world, where female leadership and role models are becoming more common. While I think there is definitely more work to be done, I am optimistic and think with positivity, intellect, and determination- the next generation of women will be able to break any barrier.
