Conversations with the Inspiring Michaela Smith

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaela Smith.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michaela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been an entrepreneur for the last ten years. I previously owned a pet sitting and dog walking company that I loved for nine years and then sold it in late 2018. I sold the business because I no longer wanted the stress even though I loved the dogs so much. I also sold it because about a year and a half before I had a couple of seizures that completely changed my life. The day I sold my business was bitter sweet because I had built it for so long. As with any adventure, I was ready to move into my next business. I didn’t know what business I wanted to go into, I saw that lots of people were going into coaching. Even with my idea on going into coaching, I knew that I had a long journey to go on with myself. That journey was to create a transformation within myself so I could share it with the world. I don’t think that journey ever ends.

I ended up launching my new company in August of 2019. It has been a big journey within as with any new company. I was told once by my dad that owning a business is a spiritual journey and that has been my experience also. It has its highs and lows along with everything in between. We are growing at the rate that I would like while impacting coaches lives. It is a total journey because I never know what challenge or insecurity of mine is going to show up next! The joys of being an entrepreneur!

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. Some days I am laughing like crazy seeing how my life is just amazing. Then there are those days where I am in tears because I can’t figure out the next solution. I am usually obsessing over how I am going to do something rather than just focusing on the why. I know that I am the one that gets in my own way all the time. A mentor of mine once told me to stop stepping on my own hose of good. He was right! The universe always provides when I am relaxed and ready for all that it has to provide.

This is the advice I have received and would love to share with you:

1. Always be authentic, even if it is messy. People love you for you, not for some facade that you put up.
2. Do the work-Consistently do the work yourself so that others are allowed to be human with you.
3. Be gentle-It can be so hard at the beginning of any journey to be gentle on ourselves because of a story or I want to push harder to get what I want. Let go, do the work and be authentic, the universe always provides.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into Karma Koaches story. Tell us more about the business.
I own a company called Karma Koaches. It is a coaching platform that is out to connect, create and transform the world. We have the first part of the platform launched for life and business coaches. As we grow, we will have an area for health, wellness, sex, relationship, religious and spiritual coaches. What sets us apart from everyone else is that we want to touch every single person on the planet with this coaching platform. The only way to do that is to touch, move and inspire the coaches to create in their lives while inspiring them to touch others.

It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
I absolutely love The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. A podcast that I was recently introduced to is called Expanded Podcast with Lacy Phillips. Life is always about expanding no matter how uncomfortable it is. My favorite blog is Ash Ambirge with the Middle Finger Project. Ash is one of the best copywriters around and is also hilarious.
