Conversations with the Inspiring Sally Gilbert-Lewien

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sally Gilbert-Lewien.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Sally. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I moved to Boulder at 18 from England. I went to massage school in Westminster when I was 30 at that time, a single parent going to night school. Soon after graduating, I met my mentor who introduced me to neuroscience and his work around the spinal reflex. Fast forward 15 years, I have had clinics and employees taught professionals and laypeople. I now teach my own curriculum Fitbak Systems built to teach about posture, pain and performance, whether that’s personal, professional or athletic performance, the curriculum empowers clients to take back their power from pain. My goal is to help a million people win their battle with chronic pain and nervous system disorders. In 2020, I am launching my corporate productivity optimization program taking FITbak to a global market. It’s an exciting time to be in healthcare with all the new science and cutting edge technology we have access to. Time to empower people and break our dependency to fast fix medications and create a preventative healthcare mindset.

When I’m not in the office or teaching, you will find me on top of a mountain pass somewhere in beautiful Colorado. My husband and I lead 4×4 trips taking people who sometimes have never been into the mountains up to 13,000 feet. I love introducing people to nature in a way that is fun and adventurous.

Has it been a smooth road?
I have had to get uncomfortable more times than I can count and still do. I would say get comfortable with being uncomfortable it’s the only way to truly learn. Find a mentor or a coach someone to learn from and be accountable to. Starting out as a single parent, an immigrant and a woman, it has had its challenges but the US has given me opportunities I don’t know I would have found elsewhere. Work hard and you can reach your goals.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into FITbak Systems story. Tell us more about it.
I am a spinal stability specialist. I teach clients how to strengthen their spinal and core to decrease pain and improve mental processes. I love what I do, when I can help someone feel like taking on life again that’s what it’s all about for me. I treat clients with the original technology Spinal reflex therapy (SRT), I learned 13 years ago from my mentor Dr. Jarrell. Treating and teaching I am able to make a positive impact against the epidemic levels of pain and postural dysfunction we see in society today.

I have had many proud moments over the years but recently helped a client to break the world championship record in powerlifting. She was injured and with the competition, in a few weeks, we went to work and used Fitbak athletic optimization program to speed up her healing process while fine-tuning neurology to take her competitive performance to the next level. She was able to break world records and had no pain during or after the competition.

Who do you look up to? How have they inspired you?
Maya Angelou, Brene Browne, my girlfriends and clients that I meet who are trailblazers, passionate innovators willing to push and sacrifice for the greater good while learning as much as we can and sharing with the next generation.
