Conversations with the Inspiring Vanessa Ribota

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Ribota.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My interest in becoming an influencer started like many others, I saw all the powerful amazing women online, one being Desi Perkins, who helped make me feel confident in who I am. I believe there is power in influence and I would love to teach women that we deserve to look and feel amazing in our bodies both physically and mentally. I have tried a variety of different things in hopes of influencing the followers I’ve gained and the women around me. I’ve dipped into photography to show the beauty of life as it is captured through my lens in hopes that they may too see how truly beautiful and powerful they already are. I’ve done a bit of blogging to explain some of the makeup routines and products that make me feel like a queen but also to show off my you-can-do-it-all attitude in hopes that it would rub off on some of my followers the way it did on me. Currently, I’ve turned the camera on myself at a different angle- a tad bit of modeling/throwing together inexpensive but absolutely gorgeous outfits to inform my followers that you don’t need the big bucks to look and feel amazing. I believe the way we express ourselves says a lot and it can either make us or break us.

Has it been a smooth road?
For starters, being an influencer in Denver can be tough at times, because it’s not really the hot spot for it though being an influencer altogether nowadays can put a lot of pressure on being perfect – I have definitely had moments where I get overwhelmed with all of the things that I want to do – my mind goes above and beyond. The best way I pull myself out of this is reminding myself that I want my followers to know that we all experience our own struggles. Sharing my tips and tricks snaps me back into my goals while it also brings me joy to be able to say “hey, we all have different struggles but how are we going to move forward together?” One of the struggles I’ve endured throughout my journey is finding the time to do the things an influencer does – it doesn’t pay when you’re starting off. Some of you may or may not know this but it takes me about an hour to record a video plus the three to four hours it takes to edit because if I’m going to put my name on it and put it out there for the world to see it, it has to be perfect, it’s my art, it has to have a message, and I need to be able to feel something moving at the end of it, otherwise, what’s the point?

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a social media influencer you can find my YouTube, Instagram, and as of recently, my blog! I have used all these platforms to guide women from looking and feeling great. When people ask me what my specialty is, I unanimously say “it’s fashion and beauty” because I love creating looks for the everyday woman, something they can wear to the park, a job interview, their career job, etc.

I’m proud to be someone that can help guide women to self-love and growth. Nowadays, I feel as if there is so much pressure placed on women to be perfect or reflect perfection through social media that it’s nice to be a person who has created a platform that inspires women to embrace their journey and be able to show that there was a process to their journey, not easy by the way, to get to where they want to be.

I’d say that being a creator that shares ways to style your closet, as well as your mind, is what sets me apart from others. I love dressing up, but like any parts of the working class, we need to do it on a budget and the fact that I’m constantly trying to find affordable ways to look and feel good I’d say is unlike a lot of other people out there. Styling the mind is also huge in my book, it’s not all about what’s on the outside, what’s inside is what is going to make you really rock what’s on the outside because it boosts confidence and ignites a passion to keep pushing.

Do you have a lesson or advice you’d like to share with young women just starting out?
