Conversations with Taylor Frazier

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was a college student at the University of Wyoming, and I had been given a great opportunity to work with Rachel Smith and Kara Delay at Love This Day Events. There was the business’s floral side and the planning side, but the floral side definitely intrigued me the most. I would work the weekends to create wedding wonderfulness while also balancing being a full-time student as an Elementary Education major. I think all along. I knew that I wanted to be a floral and event designer, but I had to give my degree a go, too! When I was a junior in college, Rachel ended up moving to Hawaii, and that opened up another door for me freelancing with a sweet lady named Signe Jones, owner of Petals and Pours, out of Vail. I also started my own company, Social Design, and just took on smaller weddings of my own while freelancing for other companies in the mix.

Through the last couple of years, I would freelance with her in the summers in Colorado while being a teacher in Las Vegas during the school year. It was crazy chaos! I LOVED TEACHING. Don’t get me wrong…. but I just felt like it wasn’t the path that was meant for me. When Covid-19 hit in March of 2020 and shut our world down, I finished teaching remotely but soon made the transformation of chasing my dreams of being a floral and event designer. Let me rephrase that… at 25 years old, I quit my career of being a teacher during a global pandemic. It was time to chase dreams. Well. With the world getting shut down and capacities being kept at a minimum, you can only imagine how the industry changed. But it changed in the weirdest ways…. smaller, more intimate weddings, and more elaborate decor. I was into it!

During the summer of 2020, I was approached by Signe Jones, and we got to chatting about how we were ready to elevate our life. We were ready for more. And we wanted to combine our businesses! So we did… Signe Jones and I are merging our two companies into one… Bustle and Bloom! We’re based out of Vail, do 90% of our business in the Vail Valley, but live in Denver. Most of the world would say that 2020 caused many negative things for them and their families, but in a weird way, 2020 has been one of the best years in terms of new beginnings and finding the courage to chase my dreams. I’m excited for what’s to come and ready to have a little hustle, with my new business partner, in my new company… Bustle and Bloom! I’ve always been determined… I’ve always wanted more for myself and the people around me. It’s crazy to think that every single one of us has the same hours in a day, but what sets us apart is what we decide to do in those hours.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road….. but it’s been a good road! If that makes sense! The best way to learn is through failure and being uncomfortable. But we learn through failure, and we grow when we’re uncomfortable and pushed to our limits. The biggest struggle was finding the courage to chase my dreams. I went to school. I got a degree…. and something told me to let it all go because God had something bigger in store for me. So I did. I’m a firm believer that you don’t always need confidence; you need a little courage. But I’m so happy I took the leap and chased my dreams. Through all the obstacles and challenges, I wouldn’t change a thing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about you’re your work?
I am a florist! I love expressing my creative side through blooms. I think the best part of my job is that I get to work with flowers every single day…. and everyone loves flowers! Like don’t tell me that if you received flowers that it would put you in a bad mood that’s impossible! I also do 98% of my business with weddings. Knowing that I get to be part of the biggest day of someone’s life is SO cool.

Along with that, I love just meeting new people and getting to know them. One of the coolest parts of the industry is getting to meet your clients…. what they do… how they met etc. I absolutely love it.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy…. so many things! I love impacting people. Seeing other people succeed and just doing really cool things with their life makes me so happy. I love meeting new people and just listening….. have you ever just stopped and listened to someone’s story? Their successes? Their struggles? People are incredible, and just listening to someone can be so impactful. I love being creative! It brings me so much joy getting to express myself through art. Whether it’s floral design, drawing, doodling, painting…. you name it! I love spending quality time with the people that I love most! It brings me lots of joy. Without my family, I wouldn’t be where I am today, and I’m forever thankful to have them in my corner.
