Conversations with Josh, Casey, Paige And Alex of Prism Creatives

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh, Casey, Paige, and Alex.

Hi Josh, Casey, Paige and Alex, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story with Prism Creatives really starts on January 7th, 2025, when six of us—Josh, Casey, Paige, Alex, Aspen and Mike—crammed into Casey’s living room, each fresh off our own solo photography gigs (Including Joshuagraphy and Casey’s Creative Corner) and inspired to do something bigger. We’d all felt boxed in by corporate studios, so we sketched out a co‑op where six unique photographers could pool our strengths: candid family moments, professional headshots, wedding photography, cinematic video, and even graphic design.

We filed the paperwork for Prism Creatives LLC that same day, and our core pillars took shape:
• Full‑Spectrum Creativity: Everyone brings a different style and we celebrate every angle.
• Client‑Centered Collaboration: We co‑create with our clients, guiding them from idea to final image.
• Community Connection: From our booth at Olde Town Arvada’s Second Saturdays to bilingual support for our Spanish-speaking population, we’re rooted locally.
• Quality & Professionalism: Whether it’s a 30‑minute mini session or a full wedding package, we deliver consistent, high‑end results.
• Accessible & Inclusive: Sessions and pricing tiers that work for families, grads, professionals—anyone who wants great photos.

Since then, we’ve had the privilege of taking thousands of photographs for clients all around the Denver-Metro Area, including family photos, real estate listings, headshots, newborns and infants, and many businesses. We held a beautiful special shoot on mothers day with curated set decorations, and even got the chance to work with some amazing local music artists.

Our goal? To become Arvada’s go‑to photography team—taking the coveted spot that big corporate studios once held, but with a local, personal touch. We’ve built out our portrait, headshot, real‑estate, wedding, and video services into products we take pride in delivering.

Along the way, our team has evolved: Mike stepped away this spring, and Aspen will gradually transition as she prepares to move overseas this summer. Today, Prism Creatives is driven by four core partners—Josh, Casey, Paige, and Alex—who share a commitment to equity, quality, and community. We’re refining our systems so that when the time is right, we can welcome more photographers and partners into the fold, handling all the business and administrative work in exchange for a share of the creative success.

At the end of the day, we’re in this as partners—and friends—committed to fairness, collaboration, and making our community look and feel its best. We empower each client to tell their story, Full-Spectrum, and to ensure that every member of Prism Creatives thrives alongside the company’s growth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not completely. It’s been a rewarding journey, but definitely not a straight line.

Early on, we wrestled with building awareness and trust as a brand-new local co‑op. Free portraits at events like Olde Town Arvada’s Second Saturdays brought us contacts—but turning those leads into paid sessions took persistence. We quickly learned that great photos alone don’t fill calendars; we needed clear pricing tiers, streamlined booking processes, and strong follow‑up.

As we grew our service offerings—from mini and private portrait sessions to headshots, real‑estate tours, weddings, and video—balancing quality with efficiency became a challenge. We invested in team training, shared tutorials on lighting and editing, and refined our workflows so two photographers could seamlessly collaborate without stepping on each other’s toes.

On a personal level, we’ve navigated the natural changes that come with a growing co‑op. one partner moved on this spring, and another will shift roles as they prepare to relocate overseas. Rather than disrupt our momentum, these shifts have strengthened our commitment to fairness and flexibility—reinforcing our cooperative structure and making us better at planning for growth.

Through it all, our biggest lesson has been to remain adaptable—continually listening to client feedback, tweaking our offerings and processes, and leaning on one another’s strengths. Those early bumps in the road have become the foundation of the systems and team culture that will carry Prism Creatives forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We’re a full‑service media co‑op that covers the entire “Full‑Spectrum” of visual storytelling:

• Professional Headshots: Packages and a‑la‑carte options (from $83) that help individuals and small businesses stand out.
• Real‑Estate & Business Photography: Clean, compelling imagery that showcases properties and brands.
• Weddings & Events: Flexible coverage from intimate elopements to full‑day celebrations—supported by two‑photographer teams.
• Video & Basic Graphic Design: Short promotional videos, social‑media content, and branded assets like business cards and banners.

What we specialize in:
• Collaborative Storytelling: We’re known for our “Create with Prism” approach—clients and photographers co‑direct each session so every image reflects their vision.
• Team‑Driven Style Diversity: With 5 photographers (and counting), we offer everything from editorial lighting and color grading to candid, documentary‑style moments.
• Community Focus: Our pop‑up booths, bilingual services, and local partnerships reflect our commitment to engaging and uplifting Westminster, Arvada, and the broader Denver‑Metro area.

What we’re most proud of:
• Our Co‑op Structure: Every team member owns a share and shares in our success—an equity model that ensures fairness and buy‑in at every level.
• Consistent Quality & Personal Touch: Whether it’s a quick mini session or a full wedding day, we deliver images that clients cherish for a lifetime.
• Local Impact: From a free photo-booth experience to special holiday shoots and print giveaways, we’re proud to make professional photography accessible and meaningful to our neighbors.

What sets us apart:
• We’re not a single artist behind the lens—we’re a diverse, collaborative team.
• We offer tiered, transparent pricing and session options that fit every budget and need.
• Our “full spectrum” mission means we’re as comfortable shooting a newborn session as we are directing a branded video campaign.

At Prism Creatives, we measure success not just in images delivered, but in stories told and communities celebrated. That’s a focus—and a difference—that keeps clients coming back.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
1. Master the Craft Before the Gear
• Use what you have. Get reps with any camera—learn Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO like second nature. Practice the exposure triangle until you don’t have to think about it, like driving a car.
• Study light. Observe how it moves, shapes your subject, and filters through environments. Explore classic art—Rembrandt, Vermeer, Caravaggio—to understand the origins of today’s lighting terms.
• Learn by doing. Shoot every day: friends, family, pets, landscapes. Analyze what works, what doesn’t, and refine your eye.

2. Expand Your Visual Vocabulary
• For video, add frame rate and shutter angle to your lexicon.
• Study composition, focal lengths, and shot types. Think in sequences—how each frame supports a larger story.
• Emulate & innovate. Find photographers and filmmakers you admire. Try to recreate their work, then add your own twist.

3. Build Solid Business Foundations
• Get contracts in writing. Even for small jobs, a simple agreement saves headaches later.
• Educate yourself on taxes. Know your obligations, set aside 25% for taxes, and keep clean records.
• Learn from pros. Seek mentors who’ve built the business you want—or hire a lawyer or accountant if you need expert help.

4. Lean on Collaboration & Community
• We started Prism Creatives because four solo photographers knew we’d be stronger together.
• Share knowledge—lighting tips, editing workflows, client‑management strategies—and you’ll all grow faster.
• Participate in local events. At first, you can offer free or low‑cost mini‑sessions (but also know when it’s time to establish your value), and build trust in your community.

5. Stay Adaptable & Keep Learning
• Every shoot teaches you something new. If plans change (shade moves, weather shifts, clients have special needs), adapt quickly.
• Watch tutorials from craft‑focused educators, not just gear reviewers. Invest time in learning, and the gear will follow when you’re ready.
• Above all, fall in love with the process—each click, edit, and business win—and let that passion guide your growth.
